I’m signing up for my first half-marathon in September.

Started training for it the other week, have done a couple of 10k’s, a few 5k’s and did my first 11k last week in an hour, not really following a set plan as it’s difficult with the amount of football I’m playing at the minute but just trying to increase distance gradually, and improve my speed on the shorter (5k) runs.

Next time I go for a long run I’ll do 12k, but it probably won’t be until next week as this week I’ve got a match tomorrow night, then Friday night. And that’s having played 110 mins yesterday as well, so can’t over do it.

I signed up for the run keeper app, think it was £30 or so for the year and it sets up a plan specifically to what you’re doing and how fast ye want to do it.

Pretty good but I get bored as * on the slower runs and end up running my normal pace :56:probably the reason I’m injuring myself but * it.
One long run a week and one shorter quick run should do you really with the amount of kick ball your playing. :33:

Got a 5k done tonight in 21 mins 29 seconds, which is my fastest time now.

Last week I did it in 22 mins 25 seconds and my one prior to that when I was still on the keto diet was 23 mins 45 seconds, so carbs are definitely making some difference as they’re quite big jumps although I am probably just getting fitter as I am running and playing a lot more games than usual.

Have another match tomorrow night then hoping to get a 12k in on Sunday morning. Also aiming to get the 5k’s in in under 20 mins within the next 3 or so weeks and then I’ll be flying.

Cheers man will have a look.

I’ve caught the running bug big time. Kind of annoyed I have a game tonight as I’d rather be out on a long run :giggle1:

Smashing wee early morning run this morning! 10 miles over to Celtic park and back. Was good to see the shrine for King Billy at first light with not a soul in sight.

Gives me that extra bit of motivation now that I’m raising money for Alzheimer Scotland... very fitting :)

First two weeks is tough but you quickly get over it. I haven’t had a chinese in about two months, longest I’ve gone without one for as long as I can remember - probably since I was a baby as it was always a weekly thing in my house.

Thars commendable mate. Serious dedication. It's hard as well when you're in a relationship. When I was single I just suited myself and went to the gym and all that. But sometimes I come in from work and my Mrs has brought in a Chinese or a pizza I'm like aw ffs. Go on then haha.

Trained with a mate tonight, first time I've done that in years.

Two and a half hours in the gym lol

    Feeling good from it though.

The struggle is real man. Girl I'd been seeing has moved in with me and the amount I've been boozing and eating compared with when I was flying solo is obscene!

Getting back at it tomorrow. Had a week off work and had a couple more days eating * and drinking compared to usual cause of the bank holiday and cause the gal has moved in.
Need to get my * together, feel like I've put on about 2 stone.
Walked 5 or so miles to the game earlier then back into town after so guess that's something. Waiting on a GP referral to physio for my ankle but did get given stronger painkillers so might just start doing cardio again and see how I get on.

Did a 15k (my furthest run so far) today in an hour and 16 mins. Making decent progress. I’m not doing a half marathon until September so not exactly sure what time I should be aiming for, but I’m thinking to at least aim to do it in under 1 hour 40 mins.

Maths could be off, but wouldn't that be under 8mins per mile, I'd say that's pretty good going!
