    Someone mentioned it in the Notre Dame thread...

    Sliders. I'd never heard of flip fops being called sliders until about 2 years ago, and now it seems to be the accepted name for them. How did that happen?

    Tbh I actually think it started with the likes of Gucci and Balenciaga

    I can imagne the marketing team was like hmmm how can we get daft * to pay £3/400 for a pair of flip flops.

    Let's call them something edgy like sliders

    I’ve got a pair of flip flops like them Celtic ones and my wife and daughter constantly correct me saying they’re sliders. Apparently flip flops are the ones with the bit between your toes but ones I have you slide foot in so they’re sliders. Despite telling the pair to ‘* off, they’re * flip flops’ all the time they continue to do it every time I call them my flip flops.

    Fair play they don’t make a flip flop sound wearing them, more like a wet fart sound if my foot’s a bit sweaty, perhaps they should be called flip farts? Not a great name for marketing though.
