Love big eddy, but the main thing the big man is missing is proper competition at Striker, having Griffiths back next year will make a huge difference.

Yup we miss his instinct in and around the box, especially in games like today.

When eddy is having an off game or getting crowded out all we have to bring on is Burke, who is basically a worse version of eddy. Having that type of striker in griffiths to bring on is huge, and this season we've missed him massively.

Could have been doing with the wee man today . Reckon he would have scored at least two of our chances today.

Tough season for him, he must be itching to get back playing again .

Neil Lennon has urged Leigh Griffiths to target a sensational comeback in the Scottish Cup Final.

The Celtic striker has been missing for almost five months having been given time away from the game to deal with personal issues.

But Griffiths is back at Lennoxtown and into his gruelling work in a bid to return to the top-team squad.

And, having watched the semi-final win over Aberdeen from inside Hampden, the 28-year-old has been told by his manager he has an opportunity to get himself involved in the showpiece at the end of next month.

Asked if it was a realistic target for Griffiths to make the Final, Lennon said: “What have we got, six weeks? Yeah, it’s realistic for him.

“But he’ll have to play and train at least two weeks going into that, so he then has a target of four weeks.

He’s had targets. He’s working away in the background and doing his double sessions.

Again, he’s a player we could have been doing with over the piece as we have been working really with one striker.

“That one striker (Odsonne Edouard) has done brilliantly for me, but it would be good to have another one.

“He’s getting there. It’s a slow burner, but we understand that as he’s been out for such a long period of time.

“It’s going to be difficult for him to get into the squad with the way the boys are playing

There are a lot ahead of him and have earned the right to play in a cup final. I’m going to have to maybe disappoint a few as well, but they’ve been brilliant.

“There were a few disappointed not to start on Sunday and a few the same against Rangers. I get that, but I can only pick 11 and now we have even more competition with those boys back who were out for a concerted period of time coming back to full fitness.”

I'd like to think we weren't putting undue pressure on Griffiths as he makes his comeback. Given his own personal struggles with mental health I'm certain Lennon wouldn't be putting out soundbytes like that without knowing Leigh was in a better place.

What a story it would be if he came back to rifle in the goal that won us the Treble Treble. I'd greet.

Even if Eddy gets a serious injury tomorrow I still would sit Griffiths until next season.

If he’s ready to go and feels mentally well enough to do so, why hold him back?

    That makes sense...

    Neil Lennon:

"Well done on getting back to fitness wee man. So glad to have you back and raring to go after everything you've been through. Can see you're chomping at the bit to play but * it, I'm no playing you anyway"

It’s not worth the risk for me. We don’t need him to beat Hearts.

Let him rest and give him as much time as possible to get ready for next season.

I think it’s worse holding him back if he’s raring to go, treating him like he’s fragile is the worst way to go.

    He is fragile though.

If it was a serious physical injury I wouldn’t want him rushed back for one game that we should be winning comfortably either.

Like I said, if he’s feeling fully fit and mentally well, holding him back wouldn’t be ‘rushing him back’, it’d just be sending a message that we don’t trust him.

Worst sort of thing you can do in that situation is treat somebody who is mentally ill, who feels like they’ve turned a corner as somehow lesser and think it’s up to you to hold them back for their own good.

Lenny will know that better than anyone.

If fit he will be on the bench at least.

I’ve dealt with mental illness plenty of times.

Not playing him in a Scottish Cup Final after him basically missing the full season with mental issues isn’t saying we don’t trust and it isn’t us treating him as lesser either.

And if it was to have a negative affect on him then he clearly wouldn’t be as ready as he thought.
