That's a good return. Majstorović, Pukki and a couple of others were decent enough, as well. Some of the players - like Pukki - had been, or have since been, successful at other clubs, too.

Some of his signings were bizarre, right enough (the likes of Baldé, Bangura, Blackman).

Lennon will get the job next season too in ma opinion, not sure if I'm convinced by him but we could do a lot worse I think.

No doubt be called a doom merchant or unrealistic or whatever else but we need better than Park.

He’s better than Congerton but he was far too hit and miss. His approach was just sign as many players as possible and hope some eventually hit.

We need to go and get someone who actually has a plan, vision and a successful track record.

To do that you'd need to give the chief scout full autonomy over the scouting operations; something Park didn't have. There was a 3 man panel comprising of Lawwell, Park and the manager with targets being decided on a majority vote...even if the manager was the one against the signing.

Given how much of a rip roaring * Congerton and Rodgers made of recruitment when Lawwell stepped back I think he might be reluctant to give that power to someone again. Time will tell I guess.

Anyone else noticed a little more fight in the team in terms of aggression and dig and the fact we seem to be just laughing at folk and winding up the hatchet men who try to foul us.

Which is why we should have several people running the football side with Lawwell on the business side away from the football stuff.

Think it says a lot that David Moss seemed to be more sought after than Park when they both left.

Agreed. My worry is that Lawwell will look at the disastrous recruitment since he relinquished his input and see that as justification to return to the previous set-up.

Lawwell Lennon and Park running the show together means there’ll be no accountability. Lennon and Park have done * all since they left and will just be greatful to even be considered back at Celtic.

Still find it bizarre that some of the people who’ve spent the last few years moaning about Lawwell not backing the manager and having no ambition for Celtic are suddenly desperate for Lennon and Park to return.

No managers signings are ever 100%.

I also dont think park can be "blamed" for duds he recommended under lenny.

One important aspect to remember is however is that we have a finer margin of error to consider.

Lawell and co need to TRUST the manager and scouting dept. To think we almost lost out on vvd over a few extra quid is maddening. How many others have they let slip by?

The onus is on the board to realise that their plan b options have a far lower potential if success than plan a's. Thats why they cost more.

Obviously you need a plan b. Thats a given. But the willingness of lawell and co to pish MILLIONS away on duds like banguras, pukkis, lassads, frijonnsens, amido balde's and more recently hendrys is unaccepatable.

If plan a is too expensive... fine. We understand the fine margins we work within, global club or not. But that doesnt mean plan b's have to be THE cheap option. Merely cheapER. And it shouldnt be by much.

    Everywhere.
@\o/ on here. KDS is full of people wanting them back. Then the usual punters on twitter. Then you’ve got Sutton in the press.

Most people definitely don’t want to go back to it but there’s some who think Lennon/Park/Lawwell is the answer.

Aw aye, me mate or else somebody like Park and the relationship they had when manager trusted his scouting system.

Still think it’s criminal we ripped it up to rely on Congerton. Worst thing BR done.

Fair enough. I think it's got to be an open recruitment process to go for the best candidate. I'm not a fan of CEO involvement in targets to be honest, feels like a Kelly/White throwback. I certainly don't agree with a player being signed by majority vote if the manager is the one against it. It's just illogical as they're not going to play them.

You can see examples of that like Deila with Scott Allan or Lennon with Amido Balde. Granted that's supposition on my part but you can read between the lines of what the managers said about them on arrival.

If they go through a thorough recruitment process and Park is the best candidate within the budget that they can get then I have no qualms about him coming back in. He's showed that he can operate well within our constraints.

That is an excellent record, no doubt about it .
Nowhere near as many misses as I imagined and far more hits aswell. Some serious talent brought in at baragin prices.
Even alot of the misses have since shown elsewhere they are good players ( Pukki, Murphy, Mcgeough )
