I’m sure I’ve asked this before but does anyone know of any dexa scans in Scotland? They are the grand daddy most accurate way of measuring bodyfat.

A few private hospitals have them but not sure you can just rock up and pay to use it for the bantz.

Tested myself with the callipers this morning and tried various calculators and they have me at 8%-10% bodyfat which is so far off the mark it’s unreal, im definitely under 15% but more than 12%

@TimFloyd , very non-scientific but try this mate, just for giggles. Mine isn’t too far off. Needs a good honest waist measurement around the navel :54:

1 - Derive your lean body weight if you’re male.

Your lean body weight is equal to:

    (1.082 x total weight) - (4.15 x waist measurement) + 94.42.

    Me -
    (1.082 x 209) - (4.15 x 35) + 94.42
    226.13 - 147.33 + 94.42
= 173.22 lbs lean body weight

2 - Convert your lean body mass to your body fat percentage.

Your body fat percentage is equal to:

(body weight - lean body mass) / (body weight) x 100.

    Me -
    (209 - 173.22) / 209 x 100
    35.78 / 209 x 100
    = 17.12% body fat

Ah ok got it so roughly 14%

I would say that’s about right, will do it again with a proper waist measurement.

This the first year I've taken the gym seriously-ish in about 12/13 years and I'm down well over a stone since the start of the year. I always just used free weights and an excercise bike in the gaff, as well as going hillwalking, but I really wasn't pushing myself so usually remained at the same weight without ever seeing much results. Brutal getting up at this time at first but always feel much better through the day after a session, and it's definitely helped my energy levels and sleeping when I've stuck to it. Looking to lose at least another stone by summer.

I've recently found out that I don't have a health condition that it seemed I had, and have decided to get fit and have been running most days, a few miles with sprinting in there too. I've also just joined a gym to do some weights on top of this a few nights a week, all going quite well.

I've just made the discovery that I'm supposed to be eating a gram of protein for every lb of bodyweight, how do you manage this?? Any tips for getting more protein that doesn't involve shakes? I thought I was eating quite a lot but I get nowhere near this amount.

I'm 5'7 and 11 stone btw, so am trying to get around 150g of protein per day. I have porridge for breakfast followed by a banana, then usually a subway chicken salad or leftover dinner (with meat) for lunch, and then make sure I have fish or meat with my dinner at night. I could add in the odd snacking on nuts etc but I don't think it would get me up to where I need still.

Stick peanut/almond butter in your porridge with a scoop or two of chocolate protein.

    Feels like a guilty treat.

    Tremendous

Peanut/almond butter, protein bars (grenade carb killa are nice and low sugar), greek yoghurt, cottage cheese etc all have high protein content.
