CHRIS DAVIES has opened up on his emotional Parkhead exit — and insists he’s now a Celt for LIFE.

Brendan Rodgers’ Hoops No 2 followed his boss in a controversial switch to Leicester City last week.

Davies admits it was tough to walk away but insists he only has fond memories of his time in Scotland.

He said: “It’s been an emotional week overall and it wasn’t easy to leave Celtic.

“I loved everything about my time there — the club itself, the players, the fans.

“I am a Celtic supporter for life now. It was a fantastic experience.

“I really did warm to the club and I had such a great time there. I am going to miss being part of the club and I will always be watching their results.

“I wish Celtic all the best for the future. It’s a fantastic club and I had a great time there, with memories that will always stay with me.

“I watched both games this week against Hearts and Hibs and I was cheering them on. I was hoping they’d win and thankfully that’s what happened.

“Celtic are now in a great position in the Cup and in the league, and those were two important games.

“Hopefully they can now finish the job and win another Treble.”

Rodgers has taken abuse from Celtic fans after walking out with just ten weeks of the season left.

But Davies hopes that the anger will subside in time and his gaffer will get the credit he deserves.

He said: “It’s been a tough week, with a big change for us all.

“Everything happened in such a short space of time. It was quite emotional.

“We just felt that this was the right move for us and hopefully in time people will realise what a good, successful period we had at Celtic.

“In terms of the reaction, as Brendan said, it’s understandable that there will be disappointment there.

“But we have to move on, and Celtic have to move on. There are fresh challenges and we need to face them.”

I would agree with that. But as for malice towards the fraud that is Rodgers fading no chance on my part. The guy has burned his bridges permanently as far as I am concerned and can go take a long walk off a short pier before ever coming any where near Celtic Park again.

Always liked him when he was here and won’t hold the move against him as he only goes where Brendan goes..

He also never claimed to be a Celtic fan or claimed he was at his dream club like the fraud.

Rodgers has a * of a record in England and at us. Even Leicester, I think people massively underestimate the job he did there. Yet the evidence of my own eyes (at least since the break) is that he's struggling to get performances against SPL dross. This is mystifying. Remember the professionalism last time around? The meticulous preparation, the development, etc.

So just speculatively, what if it never was Rodgers? What if the real genius at developing players and getting the most out of them was Chris Davies all along? This is the first time Davies hasn't gone with Rodgers.

Just thinking out loud here. Is this way off or could there be something in this?
