Any tips on improving grip n forearm strength for deadlifts other than keep deadlifting? Gets to a point where i know my back is strong enough but i can't physically hold onto the bar over 2 or so reps. Is straps the only answer at that point.

Was gubbed with the cold so didn't go to the gym for 2 weeks. First day back I got nauseous after about half an hour, second day, few days inbetween, felt ill after about an hour. Not managed back in the last 4 days. Got the fear.

Amazing how low your weights fall after a few weeks off. Might need to ease myself back in to it all.

Hold the rep at the top for time
Buy fat grips and use them on warm up sets on deadlift
Hanging on pull up bar ( dead hang ) when it gets easier add fat grips to make it harder

Best for me is farmer walks , if you don't have farmers handles then use heavy dumbbells and do lengths of gym , will fry your forearms and also improve all over strength as it works multiple muscles

This is pretty much exactly where I am at. Just not felt right for two weeks like my body is trying to fight something off. Kept thinking will try tomorrow. Not been sleeping and had a few things going on at work(and drinking too much). Kept thinking will do it tomorrow. Actually did some weights this afternoon. Glad I did but so frustrating when you know you are a while away from getting back to where you were.

I’ve switched things right up. At a size where I don’t want to get any bigger. Stopped lifting heavy and now doing circuits for time. 3 different routines, Tues,/Thur/Wknd

Basically lifting about 65% of what I would normally. 40 seconds work, 40 seconds rest. 3 sets. 4/5 exercises, then repeat it all again. Takes around 40 minutes.

Then hit abs at the end. Loving it. Gets a beast of a sweat on, * hot pump, and hoping to trim a few pounds off.

I've started doing farmers walks quite a bit, that and like sort of half curls just with the wrist and reverse curls, just stuff to help with forearms and grip strength because while sometimes my biceps look half decent, my forearms were dead skinny still. Enjoying doing that so far.

You might find that you can ditch the wrist curls soon mate. For me, they are more for competitors trying to tidy up their physique.

If you’re farmers walking, deadlifting, pull ups, arm stuff etc, your forearms will take care of themselves :50:

    Hammer curls are good too

Hard to put meat on the forearms especially if long limbed

Pinwheel curls also (pretty much the same exercise) but you can focus more on activating your forearm muscle I think.

Plus you get to see dem gainzzzz in the mirror better :giggle1:

Put kilo of muscle on this month.so hopefully add another k per month for next few months.also lost bit of fat.

Gettin really good results by eating 5 meals of 30-40 gram protein every 3 hours, trainin weights 4-5 times a week, low carb veg n fruit instead of rice pasta etc.Bread is an occasional treat.Just keep fridge n cupboards well stocked with chicken, fish etc so protein is always at hand.Preps important as i was * in the wind for a bit there during janaury.

Supposedly it takes 4 weeks to start losing muscle. I find it hard to believe but I find a weeks rest every now and then is good to give your body a rest from it all. Managed almost 2 hours yesterday which is where I was before that fortnight off. Kept my weights down a bit and no nausea. Going to try and push it tonight for an hour after work and see how it goes.

    I would avoid 5pm - 9pm

Anything other than that should be ok, you may have a steady period 7am - 9am too but nothing like the evenings.

Looking to start the gym here, as much for my mental health as physical health.
Any helpful apps i should download?
Im 5”7 and weigh bang on 11 stone, struggle with the diet part but going to give it a good go.
Id like to lose weight and tone up, add some muscle, any tips or info be appreciated.
Local gym doing classes, 6 weeks for £45, 5 classes a week plus nutrition plan so might start that to see how i go.

Anyone any workouts planned the day?
Brought swimmimg stuff incase I fancy doing after work, went running last Monday for cardio but 8.5 miles on concrete has left my body in tatters a bit.
Gonna do some weights as well but unsure what body part to hit yet.

I would just get a membership and go every 2/3 days. If you're not in a mad rush to lose weight it's pretty easy on your own. I barely do any cardio and have lost a good bit off my stomach in the past few months. Find it too boring. If you get to a stage where you're desperate and struggling to get where you want to be, then I would look at classes.

Avoid scales as well. Take photos to keep tabs on progress.
