I’m going to Valencia next week and will still have a cracking time I’m sure, but I’m not spending another penny on this team until the board get the finger out, that back line is a shambles and not one of they loan players are good enough as we’ve seen tonight.

Scotland is holding this club back at a European stage and there is * all we can do about it.

1/10 is being incredibly generous. I like the guy, but one of the worst performances you'll ever see in a Celtic shirt.

Wish Izzy hadn't returned tbh... He left leaving happy memories.... Now he's * that and I would be happy to never see him wear the hoops again.... Guttless performance tonight all over the park... We looked scared to play or take a man on.... Gutted but we move on and focus must be to bounce back bug at the weekend . Just as well I never passed up the chance of a romantic evening for this.... Oh wait....

That's exactly what it is, We are too good for Scotland but too poor for the European competitions.

Every year we all have that hope it will be a great one but I feel the best we can hope for is the CL group stages purely for the cash at the expense of getting pumped.

We will never do well under Rodger's in Europe because he is unwavering in his tactics but we simply cannot get the players capable of pulling it off, We need to be playing like we did the night Watt scored at the nou camp to stand a chance.

He is clearly not learning anything from European games, this trying to beat teams at their own game isn’t working. We need to mix it up at home in Europe like Strachan done.

Disappointed but not surprised were always going to struggle(unless we get lucky with the draw)at this stage of any European competition.
Thought we were * tonight as a team, with Brown(gives his all) struggling and izzy is past it and should be shown the door, never get why people were happy to see him back with us.
As for the managers tactics, well their pretty much the same every game no matter who we play, and in Europe against stronger teams it doesnt work.

As for the playing it around at the back, its only a matter of time before some team punishes us.

I don't like Burke as the main striker but the team has been playing well so he deserved a shot. The rest of the team picked itself although maybe Ajer over Jozo would have been better. So with that in mind it was obviously down to tactics tonight. Brendan is an absolute legend here but he will never be seen as a Jock or MON with his Eiropean record. What I can't understand is Rodgers likes us to play a high pressing game but in Europe we are so tepid and go into our shell at the slightest hint of bother. We never seem to work hard enough and there is no cohesion when we press. It all seems so disorganised. Rodgers has presided over some truly awful home performances. We never seem to get into the faces of the opposition. RB Leipzig apart we seem lost. Granted no KT, Benkovic, Ntcham or Rogic and Edouard on the bench meant we were depleted. But so were Valencia.

    theres always been a gulf

    we were pathetic out there

and our team them players should be able to do a million times better than that

really we didnt have a leader on the park or off it, rodgers was useless for us aswell

rodgers as good as he is in some ways is a bit of idealogue, hes got a set way of playing and refuses to change it even when the players and team need it changed!!!
thats does not engender a good team spirit, the players kept passing around the back and looked totally deflated that they couldnt play the way the manager wanted to

need leaders and bravery and character

With our attacking possibilities we shouldn't be afraid to park the bus and just get it up the park straight away, this across the feild stuff was getting too predictable and they ended up countering us when it should be the other way around against that quality.

Be alright when we're winning domestically again.

Teams with bigger budgets than us struggle against Valencia, they brought on a 40m sub we have no * given right to just turn up and beat teams like this 8 or 9 times out of 10 they will win.

We'd need to be at our best but miles off it.

    Totally agree mate.

Said earlier in the thread that we have to finally learn that at this level we can’t be so lacklustre with the ball at the back. We are the masters of our own downfall in Europe.

I know we have some key players missing due to injury but we have to learn to take a different approach at times in Europe. We have to mix our play more. We are far too predictable in constantly playing short passes and not taking the more direct route when we need to.

We can get off with playing out from the back domestically but it’s obvious that our opponents in Europe know that we aren’t comfortable when pressed high up. We lost two poor goals tonight plus we had a few near misses at the back. The one in particular that sticks out is when Brown plays a pass back to Bain without knowing where their attacker is.
