I have heard people just ticking no on the criminal conviction part on the visa waiver even though they have, and getting through the other end fine. The americans are allowed to acess our data if they need to,more serious stuff like murder guns etc,wil flag up on the american side right away.Been trying to find out much as a can ,going to chance my arm maybe end of the year. Most of my record is fromwhen i was a a teen ,im 31 now.Got caught with a few plants 3 year ago so the 5-6 it takes to get spent starts all over. But weed is mostly legal there now,so dont know if a weed conviction would really matter.

Basically if u tick yes on visa waiver, your giving them info they dont need to know, but u run chance of getting picked at random.

I’m the same mate, my last convictions are fae about 6 or 7 year ago so think I’d be awrite.

I know * that got their visas cancelled at the airport in Cali because the border control guys thought they were just going to smoke weed. So just cos it’s legal there I wouldn’t think they like the thought of loads of smashed tourists kicking aboot making a * of it :giggle1:

I would not go to new orleans for the scenery:56: it looks an interesting city, music, food, culture the swamp.

I have stayed in dives in bombay, delhi. And even mud huts. Not too fussed.

No, just sound advice as they have guns :giggle1:

Seriously I would check what your existing credit card company offer as some include certain car insurance costs while you are in America (think American express is a good one from memory) obviously you need to have used the card to pay for the rental. If you are over 25 (all drivers) it should be easy enough but having a driver under 25 you will be charged extra.
Best bet would be to read a couple of car rental providers offers. Finally be aware of the state laws as some have different rules regarding age/speed limit.

Smithers is quite the drive, but I’m sure you’ll enjoy the trip! Never been up that far but the drive from Vancouver to Whistler is very nice, Whistler itself is very pretty. Horseshoe Bay is just outside of Vancouver on the way to Whistler, also nice.

If you have any chance at all, I highly recommend hitting Tofino on Vancouver Island. Awesome beaches, very relaxed and quaint town right on the water.

Thanks for the heads up on that CB....if this trip goes well and I'm fairly sure it will because the lad I'm going with does it every year...it'll probably become a regular trip.

    Cheers
