Christie is leagues above Armstrong when it comes to his technicality, not even up for debate :56:

If that is true (not sure it is but accept your view) I think that energy is what is needed for playing teams who have 10 behind the ball in our league.

The only games he’s played in Europe, he’s been the best player on the pitch for us. Against Red Bull Leipzig he was the best player in general.

I disagree. He was decent for us, nowhere near their standard and that is the standard we should be looking at. Their touch and control was superb. I think we need a couple of real high injury players in the team, I just think that in central midfield we have to be looking at the best we can get technically. If you could mix the best of Christie and Rogic you would have the ideal player. One of them and two CalMacs and we are right.

The game at Celtic Park he was by far the best player on the pitch, away from home he was he best player for us

Speaking generally, I feel like sometimes Christie is getting a bit of stick unfairly, like people are expecting the bubble to burst. He had a great few games then we got played off the park against Salzburg and it was as if Christie had been found out and automatically wasn’t good enough for Europe, with folk forgetting Salzburg are a fantastic side.

For me, his strength is he isn’t afraid to ask for the ball and do something with it. He’ll naturally give it away a bit more but we’ll score and win more with that attitude too. There’s a reason we finally came out of an extended slump when he came into the team in that formation.

He brings out the best in everyone around him and hopefully he will kick on now and really establish himself as a CM.

So far from the truth. Armstrong’s technique is the difference between him being a squad player or a first team player for Southampton, at the moment.

    Really warming to him.

I think his speed on ball and his footwork is absolutely first class but sometimes feel his first touch lets him down big time. I understand that sounds like a contradiction in terms, i guess i cant explain it any better. Anyone else see this?

When he’s going 100mph it can, when he moves into space and plays it quick and turns it isn’t. Which makes sense, he’s upped his fitness, strength and stamina massively this season. Upped his workrate.

It’s not actually his natural game but he blends it beautifully.

Anyone tell me how getting volleyed in the stomach when he's jumping to head the ball isn't a penalty?

His play at times was excellent, but his delivery intae the box was brutal.
