It’s not the end though is it. It’s been cut about 5/6 years short.

I love when people say “with everything going on in the world” to back up their argument.

FFS Andy you’re not allowed to be emotional about having to retire early, because there are children starving in Africa.

Not really kids starving in Africa, I’ll need to work for the next 30 years while Andy enjoys his millions.
Forgive me if my heart doesn’t bleed.

It's all relative though isn't it.

If I was doing something I loved and dedicated my entire life to, making that decision to retire early would be hard.

    Money isn't everything.

He could be a multi billionaire, how much money he has or hasn’t in the bank is immaterial.

He’s lost his career to injury and he’s upset about it. He’s done nothing wrong showing that. That’s it.

What do you mean by that’s it? Is no more discussion allowed?

That’s it as in don’t read any more into it, he’s reacted naturally.

I think Andy Murray is probably Scotland’s best ever sportsman but, if he has a fault, he is over emotional interviews. He is better off than most of us in pretty much every way ffs. Keep the tears private.

Andy Murray and over emotional :56: things you thought we would never hear. * as boring as a plank of wood but as soon as he shows some emotion everyone jumps on him. Mental.

He is over emotional, anyone that follows tennis knows that.

In fact, it took Ivan Lendl to properly channel it because it curtailed his early career bring over emotional. He wasted so much energy on smashing rackets and chastising himself.

If anything him crying about not being able to play the game he loves should gain him even more respect. A multimillionaire who doesn't need to work a day more, genuinely upset not about losing his main earning capacity, but by not being able to do what he loves anymore.

I'm sure he would sacrifice any future grandslam earnings to get just one more injury free shot at a slam. He just wants to play to the standard he was able to just 24 months ago!

Absolute madness man, has to be one of the quickest declines in sporting history.

What a player, and what a career! Winning slams in his era his a * brilliant achievement, this era is not normal.

Hearing it is devastating enough. Having to come out and explain it yourself to the public is probably the biggest reality factor of it all and too much for him to handle..

He deserves respect for what he's done and his moment....no to be judged for understandably breaking down at losing the fight to carry on his career..

None of you will have criticised Larsson for crying, when he left Celtic. Murray has spent his life playing tennis, making an incredible amount of sacrifices to get to where he did. Losing his passion through injury makes it no surprise he cried.

5th set and 4 hours of tennis just been too much for Murray.

The smile from his Mum after a nice shot 5 games down makes me think this will be it. 5-2, be incredible if he turns it around.

No chance, he’ll bow out at Wimbledon if he has to hobble there and take a spanking.

    And rightly so.

Hope so, still positives to take from that match despite the negatives.

Easily Scotland's greatest ever sportsman. Stephen Hendry, Chris Hoy, Jim Clark and Gary Caldwell can fight it out amongst themselves for second spot.

What a way to bow out (if it is indeed his last match). Four hours... with a properly * hip... against a Top 25 opponent... and he remained competitive up until the last 30 mins! * awesome effort!

As for his greetin'? So * what - he's emotional? Cannae believe there are * greetin' that Andy Murray is greetin'! As was posted above - didn't hear anyone calling out Henke for greetin' when he bowed out at Paradise.
