Miles ahead of Gamboa both defensive and attacking wise. I think I've never seen him have the brain farts like Lustig, but I have only seen him in the national team. An Olympiakos fan might have a different opinion, who watch him play every weekend. He certainly got more pace than Lustig, so IMO he's more suited to Brendan's style of football.

    Just can't get enough
I don't know much about the guy other than the video posted above I'm just not convinced in Brendan's defensive buys, they seem to be more ball playing defenders that are not so good at actually defending

That makes two of us. He's spent something like £3-4m on Touré, Gamboa, Hendry and Compper since he arrived. In the end you get what you pay for. Penny pinching needs to stop pronto.

In the grand scheme of things 4 million on 4 players you get what you pay for! On the rare occasion you pick up a gem for that sort of value. The 4 you mention 3 of them are hopeless and toure got us to the CL that first summer!

See the thing is, it’s not really the price, of course that helps you get better players but the most important thing is the scouting, pick the right players.

    £1.5m for Van Dijk
    £0.8m for Wanyama
    £0.6m for Izzy
    £0.7m for Ajer

Can you imagine Congerton finding us that sort of value? I can’t.

I like this one. Skill factor is very high. Fitness not a problem. He's very attack minded, with very good delivery into the box. The only worry for me is the defending part, he's only 5ft 8. But in terms of skill and pace, bravery and an ability to play intelligent football it looks like a good signing for us.

CELTIC target Omar Elabdellaoui insisted last month he wants to stay at Olympiacos because he loves working with his manager, Pedro Martins.

And the Athens side are reported to be demanding double the £4 million Celtic are offering for the full back before they will even enter into negotiations.

The Hoops are desperate for a right back to replace ageing Mikael Lustig, who is out of contract at the end of the season.

And they have targeted the Norwegian international, who has been on the books of Manchester City and also had a loan spell at Hull City.

Southampton were also credited with an interest in the 27-year-old.

But, in an interview, Elabdellaoui, made it clear he wanted to stay in Greece because he relishes working with his Portuguese boss.

He said: "I feel I am playing the best football of my career and that has a lot to do with Pedro Martins.

"He is very good in every respect. I am happy here, I'm injury-free and I feel good after having plenty of injuries in the past.

"Pedro stimulated my self-confidence and believed in me. I love working with a coach like him who is so confident and clear in what he believes in.

"I would play anywhere in the team for him.

"He could have got rid of me. I had so many injuries, but he stood by me. So now I want to repay him and stand by him at Olympiacos.

"I'm determined to stay here. I have read about the interest from clubs in England, but I have already been at Hull and I'm not in a hurry to go back to English football."

Reports in Greece have indicated that Celtic would have to up their offer to at least £8 million before owner Evangelos Marinakis, who also owns Nottingham Forest, would be tempted to sell.

The best players we've had in the past ten years have came from frees and low transfer fees. Just look at Lennons first season and who we brought in.

8mil? Imagine how long it would take us to meet the valuation with our usual starting bid of 500k!
