People complaining when a shop in your local high street gets shut down.

Half the * probably haven’t set foot in the place in the last 5 years but still call it a disgrace that it’s closing.

Didn't know it was shutting down, admittedly it's been years since I was there but it's still sad if it's closing

Have to get a written reference from my current employer as part of the application for the place we're trying to rent. Asked them twice today, thought saying for a third time would be a bit much & thought they'd definitely get it to me before they left at 5. 4.40pm and it looks like they've just left, never got it.

People using unnecessary words just because everybody else is. The 'literally' phenomenon is irretrievable, to the point that 'literally' now has a definition in some dictionaries that makes it an antonym of itself, but it is the sticking it in everywhere for no reason that really irks. It is also being used for emphasis, bizarrely, as its overuse has meant it now undermines most sentences it is being used in!
Go into a place for a bit of food and you get asked; 'where would you like to sit today?' and the like. I never knew I was coming back tomorrow or that I was being asked, in the wrong tense, about previous visits that I haven't had. * Americanisms.
And don't get me started on using 'super' as an adverb. The word you want is probably 'very', using 'super' doesn't do anything to the sentence, except make the speaker sound like they watched too much 'Sweet Valley High'.

I could go on, but I feel better for letting that out.

It seems to have replaced 'basically' as the word idiots use to sound more intelligent.
