No doubt in my mind that Rodgers will coach him into the player we always knew he could be. :fear:

On a serious note, I'm amazed he stayed in Scotland as long as he did. He's in a bizarre bracket where he's not good enough for us but too good for anyone else in the league.

He's a good player with all the tools and would fit Rodgers' style like a glove; he also has too many brainfarts to play for us and isn't aggressive enough.

Is Stokes done then, mate? I heard something along those lines. Shame if so. He was a * good player in his day. I'd take that Stokes very happily.

He left his club in Iran, think he said homesickness was why he upped and left them, and they have complained to FIFA, which means that they will keep his registration until it is resolved. He had only just extended his contract too!

Disgraceful. When pampered stars leading jetset lifestyles describe the registration system as modern slavery because they can't leave a great club like Barcelona for even more money at PSG and the like, it's easy to dismiss it as * about nothing (which it is TBH). We forget that for many footballers who aren't international superstars, that's exactly what it is. Imagine leaving a job as a teacher or an engineer or something because you hated the country or your boss was a * and being told that your employer held your teaching/engineering registration for two or three more years and that you couldn't work in your profession until that time was up. Either suck it up and go back to the job/country you hate, spend years retraining for a new profession or feel free to take a dead end job and watch your family suffer in poverty.

This really needs a new Bosman to challenge the legality of this system.

I'd quite happily see us buy his registration from the Iranian club and bring him home as back up. He was a very good player for us in his day and that would be a really nice gesture from us.

No. Why would you think that?

Buy his registration because it would be a really nice gesture?

    1) He’s an * who has made a * of his prime years.

    2) Why would we do that? Got more things to worry about than trying to look good by getting a grown man out of a country he decided to move to.

    1) Why do you say he's an *?I never got that impression.
    2) Do you agree with the registration system? Do you think it is legitimate for a company to own someone's professional registration and therefore be able to dictate when, where and whether they can exercise their profession?

You never got the impression Anthony Stokes is an *? Look at where he’s ended up. His attitude is rotten.

Clonbhoy said Stokes had just extended his contract. So if he did that then decided “oh wait I’m homesick”...I have little sympathy.

Anyone who doesn't fulfil their §potential must be an *?
OK, he signed a contract. Did you never sign a contract and change your mind? In most professions, your employer doesn't own your registration and can't stop you exercising your profession elsewhere.

I don't think they are going to hold his registration forever! Going by what I read, he signed his contract and then went AWOL soon after. I think Tractor just want an explanation as to what is going on. You'd swear he was Terry Waite!

Have you been living under a rock?

Google ‘Anthony Stokes attitude’ and you’ll see why I said it. Everybody knows he’s wasted his own potential because of his fannying about and * people off.

So he was playing there for a few months, then signed a new contract (no doubt on more money), then decided he was homesick. Makes sense.

I’m sure he can take them to court if he feels like he’s being treated unfairly.
