There's a reason he's vice captain, mate: like Broony and KT he never gives less than 100% no matter who we are playing.
It's rare that someone who isn't Scottish or Irish gets the club as much as he does.

Aye, and I’d like to point out people who want him benched - give him the exact situation Gamboa had to deal with for Motherwell’s equaliser and he deals with it easily

He played well and made a great interception in the second half.

His reluctance, at times, to make a tackle is frustrating, but perhaps Rodgers has instructed him to stand off, in case he is beaten for pace; I think he should back himself more often in one-on-ones though.

On recent showings, he is still our best right-back by far. I would give him a one-year contract extension and begin to phase him out of the starting XI. Neither Gamboa nor Ralston are anywhere near good enough to start regularly for us.

Lustig staying as back up, if he gets an extension is fine by me. We really need a new player in his position. Glaring weakness in the squad imo.

I'd give him a new contract, punt Gamboa and bring in another right back

He has been a great servant to the club, on a free as well! But if he does stay then it’s back up only.

We need a replacement at right back and I pray to * this gets done for this coming window or we have someone in place for the summer and don’t wait till the last min again and sign centre mids instead.

Not that we weren't already getting our arses felt even before his injury; but we missed him.

I feel like for head injuries, the rules should be changed to allow a temporary substitution while they get checked out much more thoroughly.

You’re gonna get your usual replies no doubt

But, when I saw the replay I thought he was at it. He does exaggerate after tackles and loves a roll around so maybe that was playing on my mind. But it looked to me like he flopped his arm out himself and he was milking it

Benefit of the doubt though, must have been a bad one

I think the fact he had to come off proves it was real.

I think the narrative now switching to reward him with a new deal for a few good performances, despite being flat all season and being a chief architect for us missing out on CL, just sums up where we are as a club at the minute. We 100% should be signing a new RB and we need a backup that is gonna come in and maintain a high standard without mistakes. Can he do that? Not at all, in my opinion. He can't even perform against Greek teams. Is he a CL standard defender, does he have enough in his locked to elevate our team to a higher standard? No and no. Contracts should be earned, not given out of sentiment.

Id like to see Celtic sign a first choice RB, but that doesnt mean its the end for Lustig. He would be the equivalent of Izzy on the left hand side, reliable back up for KT. When Lustig does eventually leave Celtic he will be fondly remembered as very good and well respected Celtic player.
