I was picking my daughter up from work today and saw the most stunning female Sparrowhawk land right next to my car. It stopped, looked around for a few moments, looked up at me with a look as if it was telling me to * off, then flew away. WHAT a sighting.

It was a great holiday mate, thank you. I'm not too sure why they do it, but it's stunning to see.

Yes late morning today on the local beach with my Boxer Ruby of course i heard the superb call of 2 Peregrines, the bigger female was carrying sizable prey with the male ahead of her as they flew over the sea to the local headland. Also nearby on the rocky shoreline Ruby lifted 6 Grey Plover in the company of 6 Turnstone. Also a Grey Seal came in very close.

Thank you my friend. And that was a great day you had at your local beach. By the sounds of it, I'd be there every possible moment I could. Sounds amazing.

Late this morning out with my Boxer Ruby, she took me down a grassy path through Gorse we do not normally go,she seemed to be on to something, and bless her she sure was,a cool Stoat swiftly went right past us with a vole in it's mouth. It saw us and dropped the Vole,so we waited a few minutes around the corner and it zoomed back and took the Vole. This is my first Stoat for my local patch and first anywhere this year:lol:

It was so mild today, more like March, the local pair of Sparrowhawk and local pair of Buzzards were displaying, they seemed to be pretending it was Spring.A Kestrel was noted hunting and a loan Chough noted and one Reed Bunting was heard only.
Later in the day at dusk 2 bats were noted,i think they were long eared.

    Ok Cidermaster...
While at work yesterday morning I heard a bird above me (the sound it made was a constant single note).
It also grabbed my two workmates attention too.
The bird had a very long tail was quite slim looking in flight and my workmate said it looked green in colour.
We all said it looked like a parrot.

Today (morning) roughly the same time as yesterday it flew over again.
I’m assuming it was the very same bird.

    Definitely looked like a parrot.

Sounds like a Ring Necked Parakeet pal, there are several thousand pairs in the UK now, mostly in the south east of England, but odd ones or small numbers can turn up in any town or city. They orginally escaped a good while back with some being released and thrive in London and other places.Where abouts was this sighting??

    Berwick Upon Tweed...English/Scottish border.
Will be interesting to see if it flies over tomorrow again.

I just YouTubed the bird...that’s definitely the same sound it made too.
Looks like you’re spot on there..well done.
Will it survive the cold weather here?

It was flying quite high and fast so there’s no chance of a pic unfortunately.

They seem to cope well as they flock together for warmth and find the warmest places to roost in the cities and towns, think they would struggle in the Highlands of course, but on the whole they cope well and of course the bulk of the population are in the warmer south east.
I myself have only ever seen them on one birding day,4 together near Manchester way back in the day, their crazy call giving them away of course and they flew over me.

Out a full morning to lunchtime today with a very good mate in a large forested/moorland are in North Wales,a fine flock of 15 Fieldfare flew close over the car well on the way,at the Forest a Woodcock was flushed and a 40 strong Crossbill flock noted and from the car on the way back a superb male Hen Harrier stole the show by a mile:lol:
That was surprizingly my first Hen Harrier of 2018,normally i get a good few sightings of this majestic bird of Prey each birding year and it would have been a blow as it was 1998 i last did not see on in a year.I also predicted to my good friend we would get one from the car on the way back:36:
