Pretty quiet on my local patch this morning with a hunting Kestrel and half a dozen Redwing passing through swiftly the highlights.
Plan to go to one of the big Forests in North Wales later this month in search of the ultra cool Great Grey Shrike and cool Raptors as well:lol: I will if course do a cool report.

This morning leading into very early afternoon on my local patch with Ruby Boxer of course and my nephew and his dog i noted a pair of Buzzards displaying briefly as if they though just for 5 minutes it was Spring. Also the local male Kestrel was briefly mobbed by a Crow and then the local pair of Peregrines patrolled.
But the highlight was in the sea,a neat pod of 8 fishing Bottle Nosed Dolphins were well spotted by yours truely, got good views with the binocs, brilliant animals, smarter than us humans,my best view of them for some time and the best ever views of these cool animals for my nephew.

I got a phone call from a good friend last night asking me to solve the discussion him and his wife were having about Gulls. I told him a while ago there was no such things as Seagulls. He said all she could say was," What's all those white things flying about? They're Seagulls". He asked me to talk to her, as they know I'm a birder. When I told her he was right.and there was no such bird called a Seagull, but the were many ,and all different, birds called Gulls, and they were all different types, she gave in. I told my mate that this was the second time I've resolved this dispute for them, he told me she still doesn't grasp the things I was telling her. I told him I was glad to help, and hung up.

Just spotted a kestrel in my garden. Wasn't there long before it took off. Don't usually see them round this way so I'll be keeping an eye out for it. Sure its still circling about nearby.

I saw a Red Squirrel bolt into woodland cover at work last week . I saw a dead Fox lying on the road early on Thursday morning ( 6.20 ) , seemed like a large dog . I saw a Seal basking on a rock at low tide , that was from a train between Burntisland and the Forth bridge . At work today I saw a Buzzard being chased off by 2 Crows . We have had rain here for the last 7 days , but there was snow on the back hill at work this afternoon ( in Angus ) .

My wife and I are just back from Rome. Great holiday. On Friday, late afternoon, on the way to the Coloseum, we saw the biggest murmuration of Starlings I've ever seen. There must have been over a million birds(no exaggeration). It was beautiful, but when a small flock broke off to rest in a nearby group of trees, the noise was deafening. It sounded like scene from the film 'The Birds'. What an experience though. The only other birds we saw were A Hooded Crow, a couple of stunning Kestrels and a Sparrowhawk.

I went to a Church yard for a pure dusk outing about a mile from my house today on an Owl watch, never done one at this location and i got a brief view of a long winged open hunting species of Owl,i think it could have been a Long Eared Owl,not sure though as the light was poor and it was not a great view,so i will come back here at ultra dawn or dusk in the near future.
But we have wet and windy weather on the way for the next few days atleast so it could be a good week before i give it a go.Actually just checking the weather now for area, could be a bit of a window at dusk tomorrow:36:

Filmed these two big salmon a couple of weeks ago.

It’s interesting that big salmon like these run the river in pairs.

The first fish is a big male followed by the big female a few seconds later.
