Cheers lads. Goes in today for his x-ray and ultrasound.

Wouldn't even know there's anything up with him, except the pishing and drinking loads. Still following me about for biscuits and walking fine etc.

You will do the right thing by him. It worst when they seem Ok but really aren't.

Read the poem by Kipling about " The power of the dog" ( Yes I know, RK was an old * but... )

So he got his ultrasound yesterday, big bald patch right round his sides to show for it.

He has early signs of kidney disease, an enlarged liver, enlarged spleen and growths on his liver that could be cancerous or just due to age. I'll need to phone and speak to them today because it was the missus that they got a hold of and she was working at he time, and the vet was busy when she picked him up.

They want to do do more tests on him but we've decided we're not going to put him through any more after the way he was yesterday, he couldn't walk(arthritis) basically due to his legs being moved about while he was under anesthetic. Going to move him on to a renal diet and try some kidney disease medication that has good reviews online. He's too old for any big operations or chemotherapy. As long as he can go out for the toilet and is happy enough.

The important thing is he knows how much he is loved and can enjoy the warmth of his family for the rest of his lovely life.

As a few on here will know the family Labrador got put down a few months ago.

Bit strange not having a dog around at my maws now.

But never fear, Archie the 9 week old Welsh Terrier arrives Tuesday

    Wee cheeky face.

Picked up a 2kg bag of renal food to try with Snoop and 2 weeks antibiotics at the vet yesterday. Just over £100  Robbing *. That's about £500-600 this week in there.

Welsh terriers are cracking we dogs. I know a lassie with one. It's the most well behaved thing of ever met. Don't have a clue how she's managed it :56: won't even move to see another dog unless allowed. Can't get mine to stop sounding like a wild savage if a dogs in the vicinity.

Here’s hoping this one behaves like that! We had a Scottish terrier and he was the complete opposite of everything mentioned :giggle1:

3 years ago I lost my mini Schnauzer. I don't think there's a day that goes by that I don't think of him.

Keep threatening to get another one. But, the wife is against it. Broke our hearts losing him.

I know how you feel,i lost my Jasmine Boxer in March 2017 aged 9 years and 8 months,i was devaststed,i will love her forever,i felt she was robbed of atleast 2 years.I thought i would never get another canine member of the family. There is no time scale for this and the hurt is so deep, but i decided the way i live my mad life i would be a fool not to give another Dog a good home,so in June 2017 i got 14 month old Ruby Boxer who has enriched my life on a massive scale.

This thread warms ma heart mate, only dog people get it, when your down they know, and give you some attention. When i come home from a tough day at work, they are geniunely glad to see me, a half hour walk later and the world is good again. Can I ask if you kept Jasmines remains or ashes, it's something I'm looking at for my two, a sort of funeral plan for dugs.

Seriously considering getting a dog for the first time.

Was terrified of dogs all my life but last couple of years I’ve been absolutely desperate to get one...
