Some posters seem dismayed and are calling him a project. He's just played at a world cup. I'd say Johnston and Morgan are more projects than Arzani. I like Johnston and Morgan but we need to give this guy some credit. I have high hopes.

Why would an Iranian Aussie need to go to Paris?

For Australia, and he wasn’t a starter. Our own players that featured in the World Cup should tell you that it doesn’t guarantee quality.

He is a project, I’m excited if he joins because I was impressed by him but he’s not going to walk into the team, look at how long it took rogic to adapt.

Both players played very little first team football in a far inferior league.

He has done nothing to be considered ahead of Johnston or Morgan.

Because the only thing holding up the announcement is the work permit, which can be obtained at different locations around Europe

To be honest I think our own players that played in the world Cup were good. You've slated our own players and Australia haha.

I'm not saying he's going to walk into the team at all. I'm just excited but the prospect of him signing and I'm not sure why anyone wouldn't be.

My understanding is that England has somewhat tougher rules re work permits - which is why Arzani had to be loaned outside England. The new Australian coach has already said he's a player who can expect more game time so it won't be long before he's eligible for a work permit anywhere.

In the meantime, Man City want to see how he goes at Celtic. I can understand why some people might resent the feeling that their club is being used to develop other clubs players, but I guess that's just the reality of football economics these days.

I guarantee you're going to enjoy him. Boy's very special.

Not necessarily. He will most likely not be registered as a player with the FA in England due to not playing. Probably left to celtic to sort out

No doubt Arzani will need some time, however Rogic had injury problems which were unlucky and certainly caused him problems. Despite both being Australian and having some background in futsal, I don't see Rogic and Arzani as particularly similar. Both have great ball control, however Arzani is a completely different shape/build to Rogic and plays in a different style. The main similarity will be the step up in minutes which will need to be managed.

Arzani is talented, raw and hungry - he'll probably turn the ball over a bit too much for a while and need some coaching around tempo but without him losing the flair/creativity. He seems very mature in interviews in analysis of his own weaknesses however, so maybe it'll happen quicker than I expect. Fingers crossed.

They’re both similar in that they only have one season of top flight australian football under their belt before they left is what I was getting at.
