I do wonder if any of the Scottish refs would even give them a red for something like that though?

I don't think it was, specially when considering so many cynical fouls in that game that even wouldn't get an yellow.

I could say that he was reckless and exposed himself to a needless risk but I don't think even that. I don't get to blame him for what happened.

    * tackle, but never a red. No intent to hurt the guy, could've given him a yellow and firm warning that early in the game.

That * elbow on KT was as clear a red as you'll get - gave yellow. Then there's the penalty... Ref had an absolute mare.

Genuinely not sure how it's even debatable. Blatant red all day long.

There doesn't have to be any 'intent to hurt'.

Red everytime for me , ref was terrible and let that team away with a lot of brutal challenges but nothing justifies the stupidity of Jozo.

Red card. You get red cards if your studs hit a shin let alone his hip :56: if his toe poked his hip then yellow but flat out studs showing is a red.

It doesn't matter if he intended to hurt him or not it's still a stupid, reckless challenge and defos a red. The fact that he didn't mean it should have no bearing on the decision.

I also think Jozos reaction summed it up well, instead of seeing if the player was ok and apologising to the ref he just walked away like nobody had seen him knowing he * up.

Seems like a fairly comprehensive ‘yes’.

Could have been lucky and got a yellow but you can't complain about a red - stupid tackle, the ref adhered to the rules, can't blame anyone other than Jozo.

Said in the match thread that on another day and another game a different ref might have just given a yellow. Personally I think it was the right decision.

In that scenario it would be a yellow, with Spl referees.

Is that part of the rules?

Like I said, it was an extremely poor tackle but clumsiness doesn't deserve red imo. Plus to give a yellow for an elbow on Tierney shows the level of inconsistency from the ref.

Aye the ref was * no doubt but if you accidently went into a ball and broke a guys leg etc it's still a red. I always assumed studs up can merit a red.
