Aye I kinda agreed with a Shearer too, but they did trial it in the Confederations Cup, it’s been implemented so there was always going to be controversy..

Yeah i would agree with that tbh, i just don't think the process works, for me the fact that it's in place means there is a pressure to use it, i actually think it dosen't help the refs, instead it hinders them and overcomplicates things and just ruins the natural flow of the game.

You cannot cherry pick incidents in the box and put them under the microscope, there is a good reason why the goal line technology has been such a success, it's because it's simplified, the ball is either over the line or it isn't, with this you have so many incidents that are being over analysed, and the result is you get decisions like we have seen tonight, it's a pity because i think it's been a decent WC so far.

It’s in tho, the officials need time to get used to it too I guess.. like telling a linesman not to flag when they’ve been programmed to get split second decisions correct for years.. it’s pure instinct from a good linesman.

That Lawrenson has to be the worst commentator in the world, I would genuinely rather listen to McCoist talk pish.

The technology isn’t making the decisions...

But on the flip side....I've seen dragging and bear hugging * from behind to stop them breaking away, going unpunished..

I can't remember watching a game before the world cup where that wasn't the most standard booking..

So they clearly can follow suit and leave their instincts behind..

When do you bring it in tho? It’s a tricky one.. won’t be across Club football as we can’t even afford goaline technology, which is a joke tbh..

It's in for some comps but not others though. Few years time it will be another obstacle to us in the cl when we play teams that are used to it, how to manipulate it etc and we aren't as we only use it 6 times a season and they use it every week.

Think it’s here to stay tho mate... but imo Football have been arrogant around it they should have taken advice and implemented aspects of sports like rugby, who have it much more transparent and we can hear the conversation.. like the ref could say let’s see that in real time again..

The only way VAR redeems itself from here is a red and softest of penalties that puts England out the knockouts..

I'd even call it a success then..
