Just done a bit of work for an older guy. He had loads of crates and boxes of beer in his garage. He told me to help myself as it had sat there for ages, and he doesn' drink now. Took a few boxes and the sell by dates range from 2014 to 2016. Has anyone drank old beer? I'm pretty sure it's safe to drink but I think it might taste rotten.

I think as long as its kept in the dark its ok. Exposing it to UV light does it no good.

It'll be fine, just pour it into a glass if it's from cans.

I went to on old Aunt's funeral years ago. The family didn't have much, so the wake after the funeral was back at the house. Her son took me and a cousin aside, pointed to 3 slabs of lager, and said "That's for us 3. It's all out of date, so batter in" I had a hangover for 2 days. Out of date beer never did us any harm.

Should be okay, especially if the Garage is cool and covered, and if the cans are in good nick, the 2016 will be fine,a few of us on here are thinking of coming to guide and help you massacre the crates:56:

"The beer will not be bad in the sense of unsafe to drink, since no harmful pathogens grow once the beer is fully fermented. So you can certainly drinkthe beer. However, the beer may not taste good! ... Generally, the higher the alcohol content of the beer the less you need to be concerned with the use by date."

about 10yrs ago while working down in London I purchased 12 cans of lager for the train journey up to Glasgow, half way through the carry oot I started to slug back a fresh can and spat the lot out all over the back of the seat in front of me. turns out one of the cans was less than a year out of date. tasted like I was drinking rusty water, something to do with a reaction to the aluminium can I suppose.
so take a wee taste before you through them back down your gullet. :lager:

I still have beers from my first xmas with my wife 6 years ago was still playing so had no interest in drinking. The fact we have moved twice since then I should have binned them years ago there in bottles and probably rank as dog *.
