My position is that I'm happy for him to be our number 1 until the end of the season, I'm happy for him to be signed on the basis of being our back-up, but we need a much higher quality for our number 1 in the long term.

Definitely. The facilities you have access to at Celtic is night and day compared to the rest of Scotland. The potential for improvement here for a young keeper is huge. Forster and Boruc both improved hugely during their time here. I'd say even Gordon has improved some areas of his game in his time here.

Don't agree with the comparison with Gordon.

He won a big money move to England and was Scotland's no.1 keeper.

While there are obvious frailties in his game, his shot-stopping is still the best in Scotland.

Be more than happy for him to play til the end of the season, DDV gives me the absolute fear, and hopefully we bring in a quality replacement for Gordon in the summer, his distribution puts our defence under so much pressure and even the smaller teams in the league are seeing it and pressing him.

Sign Bain up as our no2 permanently, that's assuming he hasn't played himself into being first choice which you never know, he's still young for a keeper plenty of room for improvement.

Should give him a 2 year contract as back-up and let De Vries leave. De Vries you can't trust at all that Zenit goal he let in was shameful, James Forrest would have * saved it.

Same, I felt comfortable with him as well. He played with confidence and looked the part which is half the battle. De Vries looks a complete shitebag and Gordon even though he saved most stuff fine he always seems to look panicky on the ball. Bain looked calm in possession and done his job.

He knows who to give the ball to and when which made his distribution accurate. Used Ntcham before they had a chance to close him down and you can see he already has an understanding with Hendry.

Still young for a GK is a good handler of the ball, he does need to work on the reflex shot stopping, but maybe you have either git that or not.

Early days but excellent signs and defo worth a contract.

His distribution played a part in 2 of our goals on Sunday.

Disregarding the fact we wouldn't have even made that decision at this point, if we enter the race there is no fight.

This confuses me too. I loved Bain's performance as much as the next fan but it was one game. I also don't understand the impatience of some fans to get rid of Gordon. I don't know how many games he's cost us. It wasn't long ago he made two mistakes in one game and because they were probably the first two he made that season the supporters were chanting his name showing great respect because they believed in him and were encouraging him not to lose confidence.

A lot of folk remarked at the time it was a very special moment because historians couldn't remember many instances of a keeper making two blunders against a top European team at home and being applauded. We ended up getting a point from that game and if it wasn't for stupid officials in Milan sending Virgil off we might just have won that tie.

However, I know all player grow old and deteriorate but the hostility towards him seems unnecessary and confusing.

He gave up millions of pounds to play for us. I know he was already minted and wanted to play but no one wanted him as they thought he was gone too long. Luckily we took the gamble on re training him and he didn't ask for big money so it was a deal that worked out well for both of us.

He's still been making some saves for us. We didn't go 69 games unbeaten with a goalkeeper some folk are describing.

I'd love it if Bain can play like that consistently and be Gordon's successor but I think Gordon should still play if not injured cause it's a lot of pressure to put on Bain straight away. I'd make De Vries third choice in a heartbeat.

Poor Jamesy Bhoy, playing the best football of his career and he's still getting a dig :56:

You could've just said Boyata. Mind you there are limits to exaggerating to make a point :fear:
