You never know, Rosenborg and Anderlecht across 4 games could only take 1 goal off us and they're probably the closest quality we've played to Zenit this season.

 

What a strange thing to say. You would rather be on a flight, than watch your team in the last 32 of European competition. Your username seems appropriate

 

Rosenborg should've beaten us at Celtic Park and Anderlecht were *, even though they beat us at home....an og, where despite them being the better side on the night, they wouldn't of scored in 180 minute's..

Zenit are a different animal. Better than both of those considerably. Think Rosenborg were in their group in the Europa?

I'm just hoping we can muster up 1 of those special night's where we have a seriously strong tempo and atmosphere that their defence crumbles in. Happened to plenty before..

Quick start first half and take the lead and you never know..

 

Thursday is out 45th game of the season and only Zenit's 32nd. Last season we played 59 games and Zenit played 40 games.

So we've played 104 games to their 72 since Rodgers took over. Puts ito perspective how many more games we play compared to a lot of other teams and how Tierney's ended up playing more than anybody.

Makes you wonder what it'll be like in a couple of years now. Less rest, more games, less rest more games. Going to be massive burnout at some point if we keep getting into the Group Stages of Europe.

Really fear for big Lustig in this game if he plays. Well past his best and could get dreadfully exposed. Hope he does alright.

 

Personally believe the burn out is starting now. The injury list has accelerated it

 

I see they are second in the Russian league. Despite being a well know name with a good manager and some nice players, I suspect they will be on par with Astana.

 

Think 2010/11 is the only season we didn’t qualify for the group stages, whether it be the CL or EL, since 05/06.

 

I think we will lose by a couple of goals. We have been brutal for a wee while now. I hope we can get a result and turn things round. We will hit form again soon, I just hope it's this week.

I always feel this way a few days before though, even when we were up against PSG and Bayern I felt we’d get something..

I haven’t watched Zenit this season, but I know they were the top scorers in the Europa groups and have a very good South American lad.

Our recent record vs Russian opposition is awesome though, so hopefully we can extend that run..
