I suppose you know what you’re getting when you buy Irn Bru though. The amount of sugar in seemingly healthier foods like cereals, soups, yoghurts, etc. is more of a concern for me.

If folk would educate them self better, then the rest of us wouldn't need to suffer with products being tampered with.

I agree with you to a point, but I think it’s unreasonable to expect people to peruse the label of every product that they buy. You should be able to pick up a ‘natural’ yoghurt in a supermarket, without worrying about your sugar intake.

I'd be worried if folk don't read the packaging before they buy a new product.

Sugar intake (along with others) isn't exactly hidden from view either.

Perhaps a little education so folk understand better what quantities actually relate to?

There are plenty of healthy, non sugar products out there. If folk actually cared enough in the first place.
Instead a lot will happily blame others for their problems and expect others to do something for them.
Little bit of education and awareness, combined with will power and self pride.
Would mean folk eat better, drink better and when they want to, they could enjoy the occasional irn bru at its best quality. Rather than reduce the product to * just so some folk can drink twice as much * with no change in consequence.

They should allow people the option like Coke. You have full sugar, half sugar and sugar free.

    Not everyone abuses fizzy drinks.

IRN BRU sugar free has much improved in recent times. It used to be horrible, but it's ok now.

Barr's also distribute Rubicon Spring juice. That's probably the best low sugar and calorie drinks.

If the product is a cereal, fruit juice, soup, smoothie or yoghurt (not Müller Fruit Corners :giggle1:), should they have to? Particularly when the products are very deliberately marketed as ‘healthy’ and ‘natural’.

And you’ll know as well as I do the lengths that companies go to in order to obfuscate the * that they put in their products - not just sugar.

I think that’s a good idea, but I think companies, as well as individuals, have to be held accountable.

I don’t think that reducing the amount of sugar in Irn Bru is going to improve anyone’s health. No one is under any illusions about how healthy it is, and the sugar will very likely be replaced by something worse.

(By the way, I’m aware that those products contain natural sugars; I’m talking about added sugar.)

Does anyone else think that Diet Coke and Irn Bru Sugar Free taste like they have vodka in them? :giggle1:

The thing is they’ll reduce the sugar intake by putting in more atrificial sweetners like aspartame which are actually worse for you. It’s another pointless exercise because folk can’t drink or eat * stuff within moderation.

It’s like blaming a lassie for getting raped cause the way she dressed and nothing to do with the * that can’t control themselves.

Pretty much this - it's the hidden sugar which needs removed not the sugar in sugary drinks with have alternative non sugar options.

I've yet to see credible proof that this is true. There's far too much aspartame scaremongering.

Tbh irn bru extra tastes pretty dam close to the real thing.

Definitely the closest to its sugary alternative than any other fizzy drinks.

One of the most studied food substances in history that has been labelled safe for human consumption by every one of them but the Internet still says it gives you brain tumours.

Irn Bru Extra tastes more like an Irn Bru bar! Like a concentrated version.
