If that's what actually happened I take back the earlier comment. Those kind of people are exactly why I don't have fb etc. I actually find the people who follow these ig celebrities to be worse. If you're life is so dull that you find them interesting maybe you should re-evaluate your life. It's literally impossible for me to visit all the amazing places on this planet I want to see without a huge fortune. * living you're life through a screen.

Because it's the * internet, mate. You need to calm the * down and stop taking it so personally. Just imagine it as one huge pub, where everyone is pished and talking nonsense.

That's what the internet is. And forums like this, in the pub section? We're just throwing * about and having a chat. If you're easily offended then you're probably best leaving the internet.

Bearing in mind that this America you're talking about, and it's a casino you're talking about, there's * all security to prevent this kind of thing?

So, a squad could take all of those guns to their room over a few days, tool up and either take the entire place hostage or try to rob it of the shitload of cash that goes through it every day?

And there's zero checks? I find that very hard to believe. ISIS have missed a trick there, eh?

The window was an 800lbs storm window from what I've read, which is supposed to be able to handle hurricanes, storms, prevent * from breaking them and leaping out the window to kill themselves, the lot. It's not the kind of thing that you'd phone CR Smith to sort out for you most likely.

The idea that this guy in his mid 60's managed to break it with a wee hammer he bought out of B&Q is mental.

As for the shooting itself, I'm simply going on what I've heard actual trained armed forces specialists say. It's not a case of just pointing it and pressing the trigger, especially from that high up. These specialists have said that they'd find it difficult to do, especially with all the glare and the distance they were shooting.

He didn't just press and hope, he was aiming at what would have been quite a small area from where he was.

Well, it's not okay to walk about tooled up like Rambo. Try doing that and see how far you get before the cops blow your head off.

Maybe it wasn't the American Government? But you just need to look at the reaction to get an idea of what someone would have to gain from it.

If I were to wager a guess I'd say it's about pushing for gun control laws. The fact that the guy used a few weapons in a short amount of time, yet killed himself in a room surrounded by guns suggests he's maybe trying to put across a message.

A far right (or far left) group looking to push for the civil war that would undoubtedly result from tougher gun laws being pushed through?

Tell that to the trained specialists who disagree.

Are you seriously saying he committed this atrocity then killed himself simply to make a point about gun control?

Apparently he had developed a taste for firearms and began collecting them, quite possibly he had also developed some sick fantasy about using them,it's not outwith the realms of possibility he had someone train him to use the weapons,he was a millionaire so had the resources.

"Paddock was a compulsive gambler whose debts were mounting. He developed a taste for firearms"

Mate, you ever fired a rifle? If you have working eyes and set the sights right it's pretty easy to hit what you're aiming at.

First time I fired a rifle, a Mosin Nagant, I could nail centre of a silhouette target from 100 yards after about 20 minutes. If I could do that the first time I picked up a rifle, and with a 19th century design, then surely to * he could easily hit a massive crowd from 400 yards, especially considering an AR15 chambered in .308 is effective up to 800m. Even if his AR was chambered in .223, it still would have an effective range of around 500-600m.

If he was targeting specific individuals from that distance then yes he would need to be a trained marksman to calculate trajectories and wind speed etc but with the amount of ammunition he had he could easily just start firing into the crowd and adjust his aim accordingly.

From the pictures of his long guns, he has aftermarket holographic sights and scopes fitted to them. If they are zeroed correctly, it would be absolutely no problem to hit a massive crowd over and over.

I'm definitely not an expert, but my personal experience would suggest that I could probably make the shots he did, quite easily actually, and I have no military experience and am not a gun owner. Just have two functioning eyes and the ability to squeeze a trigger
