Ploughing through Breaking Bad just now. Took me 2 years to watch the first two episodes but ever since Heisenberg made an appearance I've been hooked. Done a season and a half in 3 days.

It's not a patch on Sopranos though but it's really good.

The best compliment I can pay is that it's really slow going at times but I can't stop wathing, I need to know what happens next. That is down to the writing and acting. Bryan Cranston in particular gives a faultless performance.

Now 3 episodes in to The Wire. Yep, it's gonna be good.

Watched the first episode a couple of years ago and I didn't enjoy it...watched it again last night and thought it was great.

I tried to start The Wire after a friend told me how good it was.

Must've watched about 6 or 7 episodes but found it very slow & almost boring if I'm being honest!

Seems like the kind of show I'd love as well, so was gutted!

Might do what you've done & give it another shot.

Lately the best thing iv watched has been stranger things. Cant fault it personally. The sets, the music used, even the kid actors where qaulity. Genuinly cant wait until season 2

Loved his rant at Enoch and the gang after he told him that he had changed business deals. Especially to another class character Rothstein "You smug kike midget, creeping around like a * dentist with the aether".

Think it genuinely took me four goes at the first five episodes before I stuck with it. I was enjoying it each time but not getting stuck in. Then one time I pushed through and plot threads started coming together a lot more. The whole idea of the show is "the game", the way people use the various systems for their own self interest, and it took a while to click for me that it wasn't going to follow standard story arcs. I was watching it expecting payoffs that weren't going to happen.

Like, the initial set up is this makeshift task force going after the Barksdale drug empire, and every other show would have them slowly work on a case and get closer and closer til they finally get the bad guy, working together and revealing themselves to be unlikely heroes. But in The Wire, none of that satisfying story stuff happens. Instead you have people acting out of self interest; trying to get out of doing more work, trying to get easy retirement, it stalls and stalls and nothing really changes. And that pattern happens throughout the various institutions each season.

Just finished watching it last night, who knew Jason Bateman was such a good * actor and director! Gets really dark as well, brilliant first series and the 2nd is set up very nicely.

It is quite slow but the plot is very good, and the characters are extremely realistic and believable.

I'm enjoying just seeing characters interact.

Finished Breaking Bad. It was good, definitely.

I thought killing Hank was a mistake though. Even though he was an obnoxious * in the beginning, I warmed to him as the seasons went on. He was also one of the only lead characters not up to his neck in criminal activity. I honestly thought he would get Heisenberg in the end.

Think I'll need to give it another go to be fair.

You make a good point regarding the plot. It did seem very well written.

My problem is, I've got the attention span of a 3 year old, so if it's not grabbing me from the word go, I seem to drift away easily!

Well I had the same problem with The Sopranos, originally!

Watched the first season and didn't think it was all that good. Started season 2 about a year later and loved it. Watched the rest of the show in the space of a few weeks.

Part of me thinks "they must be good if everyone raves about them". Therefore I feel like I need to give them a chance.:giggle1:

    @Deebo67

What's your opinion on The Wire after season 1? Better or worse...or just as good? Thought season 1 was fantastic. Seeing each season focus on different aspects i.e. seaport system, education etc....sort of has me worried, in a way.
