Drivers caught using a phone within two years of passing their test will have their licence revoked under new rules in England, Scotland and Wales.

Bit of a heads up to all the young drivers, keep your phone in your pocket.

Not being funny but you're not allowed to touch your phone, but you're allowed to play with the 8 inch HD display in the car that shows your text messages, plays media and has sat nav. Makes no * sense. Surely that's just as dangerous?

It can be just as dangerous but it'll be about minimising risk. Plus, all cars will have automated braking in 10 years anyway.

    sounds sensible.

I would also dish out 2 year bans to anyone caught using their phones in the cinema, at concerts, or during football games unless to check other scores!

*to check other football scores providing they are on a coupon.

Can't have people checking if Man City are winning for no reason or if Wales are winning the Rugby..

Everybody caught using a phone when driving should lose their licence, new drivers or not. It is dangerous. Lost count of the number of times some idiot has swerved across the lanes in front of me

*unless man city are in your champions league group and result is important to last 16 qualification

    :56:

6 points is enough as it serves as a massive warning. 1 more time and they'll be banned with 12 points. Personally it should be an automatic 2 week ban along with it. Not long enough to loose your job but long enough to make you realise how * buses and walking is.

Caught again an automatic year ban.

Why not every driver? What does being a new driver have to do with it?

Sadly I see it on a daily occurrence people over taking me with their phones lit up or iPads on the lap and worst of all with kids in the back seat.

Good. I hate drivers on phones, ignorant and no care for those around them. Takes them ages to take off at lights because they are texting. I don't even drive just an angry front seat passenger.

I think you should be able to use phones, as long as you do it sensibly.

It's the same punishment for everyone, but new drivers are only allowed 6 points in their first 2 years of driving.

You're allowed to use your mobile phone whilst driving if it's for a genuine emergency. Hence Police can use their radios whilst driving at high speed
