Agree with you. That is the way they do it in the college game. Both teams get a possession and the first time one team scores more then the other they win.
I have said often before the same should happen in football. We should ditch the automatic 2 periods of 15 minutes extra time and go to a silver goal. If one team is ahead at the end of the first extra time its game over. That way if a team does score in extra time the other team does have a chance to get back into it but if they don't they don't get a second extra time.

You are right about the extra time rule. The Falcons should have been given possession after that touchdown. A coin flip to decide such a big game doesn't seem fair, they had no right of reply which is what the heart and soul of sports is, the equality of ability to out play your opponent.

To be fair, when it comes to NFL, MLB and NBA no teams in the equivelant comps from the rest of the world match up. Imagine if they held a World Cup for American Football, would be * pointless.

Absolutely incredible, love seeing history being made.

Agree, they should have to play the New Delhi Wildcards first.

Hate the Patriots. How the * did they manage that?! Argh.

Oh well. Just hope the Broncos improve next season and make a good run for the playoffs.

Being a Saints fan I don't care for the Falclowns at all.

Went to bed at start of second half when the game looked done and dusted. Woke up to a bit of a surprise. I also laid Falclowns @ 1/5 on Betfair when they were 3 scores up.

Caught a brief bit of NFL Network before heading to work. The host asks is Brady the GOAT and the two guys say no, agree that he's the best QB of all time but then listed numerous players who they feel were better players. Or not so much that, but just that they couldn't say Brady was out there on his own.

    Interesting to hear.

After last season i picked the patriots as my team(the glory hunter that i am). About a month ago i asked my girlfriend to pick a team and funnily enough she picked Atlanta falcons. Just because she has been to the stadium. Neither of us really take much notice of the NFL though. Need to watch it next season(say that every year).

I'm glad Patriots won, Brady is a legend one of the greatest sportsmen of all time and a nice guy with it. I have family over there that will be thrilled about this. I just wish I did not go to bed I thought it was all over so I missed the comeback.

Wish I knew more about the sport, Paddy Power had the Patriots out at 10/1 when they were furthest behind.

Even some who know everything about the sport didn't see that comeback coming. Caught an interview of a Pats player (Chris Long I think postmatch) who admitted after that he thought they wouldn't claw it back.

Scandalous that Atlanta lost that game. They literally slit their own throats. All they had to do was run the ball a couple of times and kick a field goal. They do that and they have an eleven point lead with not much time left. It's game over. Instead of which they try to be clever, call pass plays and end up out of field goal range. Idiotic stuff.

The media can have their circle * over Brady, Belichick and the 'Patriot Way' but the Falcons absolutely blew this game. This loss will haunt that team for a long time.

I know very little about American football but I do know Tom Brady and Coach Belichick are true American patriots, congratulations on an amazing victory :)

Saw the NFL Network post game interview with Martellus Bennett. He said he knew they would win because the Atlanta defense were "gassed" in the 3rd Quarter.

Dan Quinn admitted they "ran out of gas" towards the end of the game. Find that quite a big omission to make. Although New England had 99 offense plays to the Falcons 47 plays.

It seems the occasion had an influence on the Falcons, who started off so well but dropped off both physically and mentally.
