Just got a mental health assessment today which actaully felt like a grilling and made me uncomfortable, dont even think they took me serious at times.anybody had any experiance with one of these?and how confidential are they?didnt tell them i was going to hurt anybody or anything like that, but said a few things that i should have kept private.felt as if i was getting mentally raped.the people i was dealing with were from some place in glasgow called esteem.

I feel the mental health services in this country leave a lot to be desired, I've had similar issues and found that unless you are trying to cut your wrists within the first 10 mins of a talk with a stranger then you're deemed fine.

They've got to ask you personal and sometimes uncomfortable questions to try and get to know what's up and what they can do to help you.

Aye but you know the type there are lots who are just pen-pushers, with zero empathy. Intelligent people of course but they didn't get into for all the right reasons. :smiley-laughing002:

I suppose aye but they must see all sorts of people, some with really complex conditions. Sometimes it helps to have like a poker face demeanour.

Nothing to do with a "poker face" - some of these mental health assessment places are trained nurses who carry out assessments designed to be box-ticking exercises for a * private French company that bypass all of their medical knowledge.

I know, ATOS and * like that but I don't think the OP is talking about a work assement. As far as I know Esteem aren't involved in that stuff.

I work in the mental health industry, & it *should* be 100% confidential...unless youve given them directions to body parts in your freezer that is. You'd be aswell going for an internal with half the stuff you get asked.... but we do help most of the time lol
