I don't know if there is a thread on this already, couldn't be arsed trolling through.

Anyone into it? Now I'm not just meaning a couple of auld codgers playing the accordion. Scottish Music in general has had a bit of a revival in recent years, alot of good young bands about playing some catchy stuff.

Couple of bands I like are Skerryvore and Skipinnish. Both play a mix of Gaelic stuff to ceilidh tunes to more modern songs you can sing to. Play regularly down in Glasgow, actually.

Obviously not for everyone but it's not as boring and predictable a music scene as it once might have been.

Dougie McLean is depressing as * but his songs are pretty meaningful alot of the time.

Getting away from the modern stuff a wee bit here but some Scottish rebel songs if you like.

Seen Skipinnish play a few times, cracking band :50: Playing in my home town next month but sold out sharpish, pretty gutted not to get a ticket.
When I stayed in Glasgow always went to the Park Bar but never managed to see Skerryvore play. But still plenty of other great bands that play there.

    Where you from Cook?

I want to see them as well, watched them on BBC Alba the other night after New Year, had it recorded. Alot of it was Gaelic but still good to listen to. A few cracking songs in English.

I've seen Skerryvore twice. Skippinish probably my favourite now though.

West coast mate, wee place called Campbeltown. Playing here for a charity event.

Yeah I get a bit lost during the Gaelic songs but cracking music nonetheless :50:
If I get the chance will definitely try and get to see Skeryyvore, was only once I moved to Glasgow as well I got into the teuchter music.

Ah right. I'm up the West Coast fishing regularly, near Oban though so a bit further up.

Aye as I said I think the Scottish music scene is in a bit of a revival. Not as 'uncool' if you like. Loads of small scale festivals around the Highlands and Islands that I'm planning on going to.

Yeah it's about 3 hours from Oban, cracking scenery around Kintyre just ashame it's full of huns :smiley-laughing002:

Fully agree man, was wanting to go to the Tiree music festival, been before years ago but it's gotten much bigger and better now. Bands like Skipinnish and Skerryvore will just keep growing I think. Trail West are another one seen them a few times in the Park Bar.

Seen Trail west about 4 year ago in a Village Hall in the wee place I fish. Less than 50 * in the place, cracking night:56:

The Tiree festival is ran by the twins from Skerryvore, I think. I was watching some of the highlights on BBC Alba, can get it on catchup.
