    We have to start doing this to be honest. Porto started off will small fees and got bigger and bigger. To be fair if he plays well we know we will get about £8 million minimum for him.

    It's not about affording it though mate. Virgil wants off and not one of us can blame him.. Let's be honest.

    If we're willing to splash out €5m on a 21 year old CB.. I'm very excited to see what he's like (if the deal happens).

    I think if we qualify for Europe Virgil will still be here until January, Ronny will want to keep him and VVD will want another crack at the CL. However we need to get a young defender in now that will be his future replacement and integrate him into the squad now, this guy would fit the bill.

    What I was trying to get at was we're only willing to spend money on a replacement when we could've spent money on a decent partner of his. I may not be explaining it well.
