PSN/Xbox Live DDoS Attacks

The PlayStation Network was targeted by a group know as the Lizard Squad, which led to sign in and connection issues for many users. Sony have released a statement claiming users personal information has not be leaked, and that the planned maintenance of the network has been rescheduled.

The same group has also claimed responsibility for similar attacks on Xbox Live, Blizzard (World of War Craft) and Riot Games (League of Legends).

On a more serious note however, the group were also involved in a hoax bomb threat on an American Airlines flight. The group contacted American Airlines and told them that a plane carrying Sony Online Entertainemt President, John Smedley, was also carrying a bomb.

The flight was redirected to an airport in Phoenix, Arizona, where a search of the plane was conducted and no bomb was found. The FBI have since announced that they will be investigating the matter.

Assassin Creed: Unity

Ubisoft have posted a short interview with Dan Jeanotte, who voices the main character, Arno Dorian. The video gives some new information on the character, particularly as to why he joins the Assassins.

Twitch

Amazon have reached an agreement with Twitch (the video streaming site), to buy the company for $1 billion.

Previously, Google had been in the running to buy the company, but talks between the two apparently broke down.

According to Forbes, Google were concerned about falling foul of American anti-trust laws.

Super Smash Bros Wii U/3DS

A leak courtesy of someone who previously worked at ESRB (the American rating board) has what appears to be the full roster for the upcoming game. Multiple images and videos (which have been removed from Youtube due to copyright claims by Nintendo) have been posted online.

Following the leak, Nintendo announced a special Super Smash Bros. themed Nintendo Direct event on Friday.

Pokemon Tournament

Pokemon Tournament, a fighting game by the developers of Tekken has been announced.

The game is set to launch in Japanese arcades next year, but is rumored for release in the West at some point (in the form of a Wii U game).

Dragon Age: Inquistion

A co-operative multiplayer mode has been revealed. It's similar to Mass Effect 3's multiplayer, but with a Dragon Age twist.

The developers of the Saints Row series are set to announce a new game on Friday. The studio were sold to Koch Media last year, who publish game s under the Deep Silver label (they own the Saints Row, Metro, Dead Island, Risen and Homefront IP's.

They had also previously created and developed the Red Faction series, however following THQ's IP auction, the rights were sold to Nordic Games (who also bought Darksiders, Destroy All Humans, MX vs ATV). Nordic Games are also able to publish games under the THQ name after acquiring the trademarks.

Assassins Creed: The American Saga

Ubisoft have announced Assassins Creed: The American Saga for PC, PS3 and 360 which will be released on the 3rd October. The compilation includes the three games set in the Americas, which are Assassins Creed 3, Liberation HD and Black Flag.

Assassins Creed: Rogue which is also due to release next month will be the final game in the 'American Saga'

Not strictly gaming news, but I thought some people might be interested.

Andrés Muschietti who directed Mama, is now reported to be directing the planned Shadow of the Colossus movie.

 

What are people views on PS Vita?

I don't have a PS3 or a PS4 so I can't do the remote play thing. So dunno if it's worth getting. I really like handhelds though but I just find annoying Sony have not really bothered with Vita when to me it looks like it has great potential. People keep saying it's dying a slow death seems stupid from Sony that they don't advertise the Vita more.

 

I don't own a Vita, so my opinion might not mean anything, but I've heard decent things. Although, it's mostly being marketed as a remote play peripheral by Sony now (they've pretty much abandoned it), instead of an actual console.

It all depends on what sort of games you're interested in to be honest. At the moment, the Vita seems to be gaining a bit of a reputation as an indie game device. A lot of the games are available on the PS3/PS4 as well, but quite a few of them seem better suited for handheld devices.

Sony have came out and basically said not to expect any major first party releases (like the Uncharted or Killzone spinoffs) in the future. So basically, the majority of major releases now are either indie games or the more popular Japanese games.

This article lists the top 25 Vita games (according to that site) which are generally the one's I see mentioned the most. The only one that isn't listed is a game that was released a month or so after that article was written called Soul Sacrifice, which gets a decent amount of praise.

Outwith Vita games, you can also buy digital versions of PS1 & PSP games which might be something to consider. Also, if you subscribe to PlayStation Plus you get two free Vita games a month (and two PS3/4 games), which is a decent enough deal.

I'm not sure if its anything you would be interested in, but Nintendo just announced a new upgraded 3DS (called the 'New' 3DS) which looks like it could be a big improvement over the current models. This article has all the details on it. It might be something worth considering.

Batman: Arkham Knight has been announced to be a PS4 exclusive in Japan. This is pretty much down to the Xbox's sales in Japan (which you can read more about further down), which have never been good.

• Capcom have announced that the game will be released over four episodes. Most sites aren't reporting UK prices (if they've even been announced) but in America it will be

- $5.99 per episode

- $39.99 for a boxed retail release which will have even more exclusive content.

Robert Downey Jr. has reportedly signed up to play the role of Leonardo Da Vinci in the upcoming movie.

Michael Fassbender has been involved with the project for a while and is going to be playing the lead role (which would seemingly be Ezio, if the Da Vinci rumor is true).

The movie is due to release on 22nd May 2015

 

Thanks, I think I will just get a PSP I used to have one about 4-5 years ago but I had to sell it when I was living in Australia to pay for my rent lol. I think you can pick them up for quite cheap now and there is s good amount of games. Plus the battery life is much better I think you only get 3-4 hrs on the Vita. If I had PS4 or PS3 I would get a Vita but I'm more into the sports games at the moment like nba 2k games and boxing games and it's got the classics like Grand Theft Auto series. I wonder if the Vita will be the last Sony handheld ever.

Anyone played The Vanishing of Ethan Carter for pc? probably my game of the year it's a lot better than most of the * that's came out in 2014 and the graphics are jaw dropping at times it's also coming to ps4 early next year, here's a few screenshots i took last night it looks much better in-game though, screenshots are usually compressed and quite crappy looking.

Forza horizon 2 is some game. Class.

 

I’ve been really interested in it since it was first announced. The reviews I’ve read have all been pretty positive, so I’ll probably get it when it’s released on PS4 next year.

Basically there was meant to be multiple starting areas, instead of the single one we got (which was apparently the Exo origin). The main story would be about exposing the Traveler being linked to the spread of the Darkness and the Speaker's role in covering up the truth.

A lot of what they mention can be corroborated based on images, videos and previews released by Bungie last year. The changes supposedly occurred after Destiny's lead writer left Bungie last summer, which for some reason led to them completely changing parts of the story.


Parts of the story that actually explain what's going on, stuff about the enemies, the Tower factions etc were instead incorporated into Grimoire cards. The Grimoire cards were supposedly a relatively last minute thing following the story changes (the guy who wrote them was hired in February).

A new story trailer has been released

Some have you might have noticed this from the trailer, but Ubisoft have announced that all main characters will speak with English accents rather than French ones.

They've stated that the decision is in keeping with in game lore, that the Animus adopts the accent/language of the person using it (despite this obviously not being the case with the games featuring Ezio). Random people in the crowd will still speak in French however.

Generally speaking anytime after half four in the afternoon on a Wednesday the store's usually updated. It's meant to be earlier, but they're always late.
