He's does my head in at times.

Far too casual at the back and what the * is he doing playing out on the left wing in the 85th minute? Crazy.

All well and good when we're well up but this running out of position needs to be curbed at 1 nil..

    I don't like it..

Anyone else think he does this wandering and attacking (that much) to try and 'impress' or 'show off', you know to make himself look better and et noticed. Or is it really just a (at times bad) habit?

Nope, Ronny pushes the defenders up the pitch to squeeze the game into their half.

Think it's because our defence is rapid and Van Dijk's one of our best passers of the ball.

fair enough hes scored a few goals recently, but his job is too defend, more so when hes playing with efe, the last ten mins when we attacked he went with the attack

Losing Virgil van dijk would be a huge blow to celtic, their is a good possibility he could be on his way in January transfer window and can also see lennon putting in a bid for stokes, commons etc

Played * again tonight. I haven't said anything negative about him this season as he's clearly our best defender, but I have not been impressed at all with his form. He is letting down his team mates, as well. There was one moment in the second half I really got mad watching him back up like * instead of getting tight, and we got into trouble as Efe was exposed. He warmed up, but didn't start playing until Stokes came on, and by that point the game was practically over anyway as Zagreb had slowed their tempo down and were sitting off us, which allowed VVD to bring the ball forward and ping balls out to the wide areas.

Anyway, * him. If he wants a transfer, give him one. If I was Deila I'd be winding him up like * - 'who's going to be in for you with this play?'. All you ever hear for the last 12-16 months is 'he's attracting interest', blah blah blah. Well, give me Kelvin Wilson back any day. He's a much smarter and more dependable player. Virgil is going to have to improve his form if he expects to be going anywhere.

Have to say in Europe he has not cut it for me, if we get anything of 8 million plus I would let him go in the January window.

He's good, but still has a long way to improve defensively. Too often he is caught out high up the park and doesn't get back fast enough. We could probably sell him and use the money to get in 2 good CBs and John Souttar.

That's because he is strolling this league, I also don't entirely agree with that comment either.

Do you honestly think he would stroll out the back line as easy in the English Prem? Not a chance.

He can still improve yes, but I don't see why people are doubting his abiity to play for a Man United or a Liverpool or Arsenal when they have guys like Sakho, Smalling, Jones, Evans, Blackett(or whatever his name is) and in Arsenal's case Debuchy having to fill in at centre half due to injuries.

The English prem is full of bang average players managing to somehow play for the 'big' sides.
