Gazza

For those who haven't seen he's back in the news for all the wrong reasons. Article about him being arrested drunk here. It's hard not to feel sorry for him, really. Of course he brings most of it on himself. Do you think there could ever be another Gazza in football (in terms of personal problems, not skill) or haqve the clubs sorted out the support they give to youngsters?

Not sure there will ever be such a spectacular high profile unravelling to a footballer ever again as Gazza because youngsters who step out of line , tend to fade away from the game before they make it big nowadays.. There has been quite a few before Gazza.. Obviously George Best , Maradona and Garincha , being three of the best ever players who all had serious problems after they stopped playing..

There's been a number of youngsters who've failed drug tests , the highest profile one being the teenager at Newcastle (when keegan was boss) , who'd been taking Heroin..

With all the mental problems Gazza has been diagnosed with , on top of the self inflicted problems , it probably makes him even less likely to win the battle with his demons..
People always said Gazza needed to stay involved in football after he quit playing , and predicted this kind of collapse would happen long before it started but I think there's been plenty of people , both friends and within football who've tried to help him out over the years..

Gazza was brought up a few streets away from my house i was standing behind him in the local co-op last year just before the 2 0 cup final and he bought some bread and toilet roll believe it or not he had a whack of money and put all the change from a £20 quid note into the charity box
he has such a soft heart and he has a disease
My lad plays for Redheugh Boys club and this is Gazza's old club so there is alot of sympathy for him in this area
he was a great player with a big heart and many ppl took him to the cleaners when he signed for spurs he was worth £14 mill

he gave millions away the man is sick we need to take that into consideration even if he did play for the huns

i reckon it was the flute thing that really fucked him up with celtic fans, that was a fucking stupid thing to do, and he really alienated himself after that, but he is a dead man walking!

Gazza clearly has mental issues and is due some sympathy regardless of who you support. but on the other hand, i accept the view that this man is an utter disgrace, a wife beater, a bigot and a drunk who's had many chances to redeem himself and has fucked up every single one of them.

classic story of the man who ahd everything pissing it away...such a waste as he was a world class player in his heydey
