Burley did a good job at Hearts (and at Ipswich). And God only knows what he was working against at Tynecastle. He's definitely got something about him. But international football is different to the game at club level. Weeks and weeks without any contact wi' the players... It doesn't suit some people.
I dunno. Early signs aren't that promising. Too soon to judge though. I hope he does well. I hope we skelp Norway tomorrow. We'll only really know how good he is by the end of the qualifying campaign.

The game tomorrow is massive for him, and if they win, he should be given every encouragement.
Personally, I hate the cunt, but personal feelings cannot dictate results.

I'm on the fence with this one, we have yet to win under him although he is adapting a more attacking style like he did at hearts so lets wait and see.
My main concern is he should have waited to adapt this play style because we have important games to play first and foremost.
EDIT: forgot bout the iceland game.....

I quite admire the guy actually. He's not a bad coach and seems to hold his dignity in place. As mentioned, at Hearts it's hard to imagine the atmosphere he was working under and he managed to do a great job. I think though that pressure got to him and there were some stories circulating about his fondness for a bevvie, but fair play to him, he seems to have come back a stronger from it.
What I can't understand is the despicable Scottish media who from the start have set out to undermine him in the eyes of the public. He's constantly criticised and judged far too harshly and to be honest, the Scottish media have now become just as bad as the English press when it comes to hounding managers out of jobs. I'll be surprised if Burley's still in the job this time next year at this rate!
Smith and McLeish never received such a bad press as Burley has and if anything the media were so far up Smith's arse they'd have needed GPS to get out of it. In press conferences they asked him mickey mouse questions and continually fawned over him and hung on his every word. Not once was he put under severe scrutiny and was constantly over praised for being the "saviour" of our game. Bullshit, he just used the Scotland side to perfect his anti-football tactics before answering the call to prayer from Minty!

Scotland - Same shit, different year
Well guys, negativity is never good, but on the face of things that would appear to be that for the World Cup campaign bar an extravagant turn of fortune, and results which are not befitting out current level or performance.
I wrote an article about the Celtic representatives for the game, and when i wrote it i found myself genuinely hopeful of a positive result.. i thought the performance itself was distinctly average. Line-up itself was a surprise..never expected Robson to start, but he covered himself in glory in comparison to many others. The further decision to start with three midgets up front against an average height of 6 foot in the Noggy defence was - in my opinion - flabbergasting. I understand the reasoning behind Burley's team choice...quick nippy characters to expose a supposed lack of pace, but for me it was one risk too many, and we found ourselves wanting.
Furthermore, and this will reek of controversy, WHY IN THE NAME OF FUCKING GOD NOT TAKE ON BOYD?! Fletcher and Chris "miss a sitter" O came on, but no Boyd. The guy scores goals, and we needed a goal. Relative simplicity in my opinion.
A hard group, and a sad day - i look forward to all your thoughts on the matter.

"against" after a first 11 choice that was astonishing.

I'd be absolutely astonished if i was Kris Boyd, for both club and country.
Fair enough he's a big lazy bastard at times but he scores goals.
