The official Man United, Villareal and Aalborg watch thread

Just to keep a track of how our opponents are fairing in the build up to the start of the Champions League campaign next month.

Man United have had an all right start to the Premier League, getting their season off the ground with a 0-0 home draw at Old Trafford (like last season) at home to Newcastle, but they followed it up with a 1-0 at Portsmouth - Darren Fletcher with the goal. They also beat Portsmouth in the Community Shield. They face Zenit tomorrow night in the Uefa Super Cup. Ronaldo will still be out for another couple of months, and they're still in the market for another striker.

Villareal start their season this weekend away to Osasuna. One of their star players could be off to Real Madrid - Santi Cazorla.

Aalborg - fuck knows. Anyone want to look up how they're getting on in the Danish league?

Villarreal fans ssem to be giving Cazorla the GTF message on their forum, though they might be just a few diehards. Apart from that their fans are in buoyant mood about their chances. They reckon the semis is the least they should expect, some of them. Their preseason matches haven't been much to go on so far.

Aalborg are 10th out of 12 (the team that knocked out QoS is last), with 4 points from 5 games

Just looked it up myself. Seems the Champions League qualifying has affected them as they've only picked up four points from their opening five games and lie only one place above the relegation zone, as can be seen here.

EDIT: GuitarBhoy, quick hands you have there!

Oops! what happened there!?

Away win 3-2 a draw and a home defeat 0-3. hard to say.

It will be easy to follow Villarreal because Altidore plays there, so the American boards will be watching their every move. They've been shit in preseason though, playing really badly. Nihat's injured and Rossi might be hurt as well, they were pretty much solely responsible for the 2nd place finish last season.

How long are Nihat and Rossi supposed to be injured? Minor knocks or longer?

No mention of Nihat and injuries but SANTI CAZORLA seems to have signed a bumper new deal with Villarreal and decided not to go to Real Madrid. They all seem more than pleased.

The AaB (Aalborg) thread

Hello.

I would post some informations about AaB in this thread.

---
Firstly the team:

Manager;
Bruce Rioch - ex Arsenal, Middlesbrough, Bolton Wanderers, Wigan Athletic, Norwich City + a couple of other clubs, as manager.

My guess for the lineup at Celtic Park (4-5-1);

Goalkeeper;
#1 Karim Zaza. Ex-FC Copenhagen, Brøndby IF and Rot-Weiss Essen player. Got two national games for Morocco.

Right back;
#16 Kasper Bøgelund. Ex-PSV Eindhoven and Borussia Mönchengladbach player. 15 national-games for Denmark.

Centre;
#6 Steve Olfers - from the Netherlands. Brought in Sparta Rotterdam in 2007.

Centre;
#4 Michael Beauchamp from Australia. Brought in 1. FC Nuremberg this summer.

Left back or centre;
#2 Michael Jakobsen. One of the best prospects in Denmark. Were brought to PSV Eindhoven in age of 17, but never really get his chance. So he were picked up by AaB in 2005. The captain of the under-21 nationalteam, and waiting for his nationaldebut.

Right midfield;
#23 Thomas Enevoldsen - a homegrown player. 21 year old, and playing on the Under21 nationalteam. Best known outside the danish boarders, for his stunning goal against Spurs at White Hart Lane when they lost 3-2 last year in the UEFA Cup.
Is more like an centre midfielders than a regular winger.

Centre midfield;
#9 Thomas Augustinussen - 27 year old, and have always played in AaB. The captain on the team and the "heart". 1,92 m high, and got speed. More a playing midfielder than a Lennon-type midfielder.

Centre midfield;
#21 Kasper Risgård - 25 year old, and another of the homegrown players. The most defensive minded midfielder on the team.

Left midfield;
#8 Andreas Johansson. Swedish attacking midfielder / wing, who AaB brought in 2007 from Wigan Athletic. 30 year old, and is the player on the team with most experience on a high level.

Attacking midfielder/holding attacker;
#14 Jeppe Curth - played for Feyenoord as a youth player, before he got loaned out to Excelsior in Holland. In 2005 his went back to Denmark, and have scored regular for the team. One of the most important offensive players.

Striker;
#10 Marek Saganowski from Poland. He is currently on loan for Southampton, and is new on the team. A good player, but he isn't at his best form in this moment. Played for clubs like Legia Warszawa, Vitória Guimaraes and Troyes before his came to Southampton. The defends should watch out for this guy.

Important subs;

Attacking midfielder/striker;
#18 Cacá from Brazil. As the most brazilian, he is good technical, but not a strong physical player. Have played for clubs like Atlético Mineiro, Duisburg and Clube de Regatas Brasil before his joined AaB. If he isn't in the line-up I'm pretty sure he will come on later in the game(s).

Left winger;
#7 Anders Due 26 year old. Got from FC Nordsjælland (the club who defeated Queen of the South) and became a succes. Then Vitesse Arhem brought him, but he never really got a chance, so back to Denmark he came. Is the most regular kind of wing the club have. A bit simirlarly to McGeady... just not near as good of course.

Left back;
#3 Martin Pedersen. One of their own "homegrown" players. Not a bad player, but is wellknownen as a player who makes a lot of gambles in his play. Offensive and aggressive.

Attacking midfielder/wing;
#15 Siyabonga Nomvethe. 30 year old from South Africa. Played for a lot of clubs in his home country and three clubs in Italy (Udinese, Salernitana Calcio and Empoli). Not a regular striker, but could do the most other jobs in the play forward. Would be the "if we want to gamble in the offense"-player.

Striker;
#20 Simon Bræmer - a homegrown player also. Not a bad player, but isn't playing every week. Were loaned out to the norwigian club Moss F.K. in the spring and scored 7 goals in 10 games. A joker.

The highest (in the top) red circle is Aalborg. The grey København area to right = Copenhagen.

Denmark ^^

If you travel by our own you can either fly from London to Aalborg with Stirling, or fly to Copenhagen, and continue to Aalborg from there.
---

The stadium is called Energi Nord Park because of the sponsor, but is just called Aalborg Stadium by everyone else. Normally there can be 13,800 visitors, but in Europe I think there only can be 10,500 inside there. Not much...

About the town.

BUT more important. If you want to got something to drink, I will suggest "Jomfru Ane Gade";
