Pavlyuchenko close to Spurs move.
Roman Pavlyuchenko has claimed he is set to complete a move to Tottenham.
The 26-year-old Russian international has been linked with a move to Spurs all summer.
Now it appears that the North London outfit have sealed a deal with his club Spartak Moscow.
Speaking to Uefa's Russian website, Pavlyuchenko confirmed he had not travelled with the rest of the Spartak squad for the second leg of their UEFA Champions League qualifier against Dynamo Kiev as he was finalising the details of his move to Spurs.
"I am back in Moscow and I will not play in Kiev, and I can confirm I am going to Tottenham," he told uefa.ru.
"I am not waiting for a Visa and as soon as it is granted, I am ready to go to England and sign."
Pavlyuchenko revealed he was yet to discuss the move with Spurs boss Juande Ramos.
"Juande Ramos, I have not yet met, it seems like he will call me - but I know for sure he is very interested in my services," he continued.
Spartak spokesman Eduard Nisenboim has told the Russia media that the deal is not yet signed.
"I would prefer it if the deal was described as very close," said Nisenboim.
"At the moment the papers have not yet been signed - we have only reached a verbal agreement with the England club.
News of Tottenham's move for Pavlyuchenko will cast further doubt of Dimitar Berbatov's future at the club.
Manchester United are desperately trying to prise the Bulgarian away from Tottenham but as yet have been unable to agree a fee.
It'll be interesting to see how he does in the EPL.What might have been eh?

i dont think he'll do well in the EPL, cant think of any russians bar kanchelskis who have been successful there. you'd think spurs would have learned their lesson with rebrov

I think his game is well suited to the EPL though. He's a typical EPL striker really, big, strong and quick like Adebayor,Drogba,Berbatov,Jones,Alves,Torres,Santa Cruz etc.If they can get Arshavin in then he'll have a better chance because they linked up brilliantly at the Euros.

i agree they'd link up superbly but i dont think i'd say he's a strong player, he looks like a good gust of wind would knock him over

dunno mate. im sure we will replace him with someone decent this winter.
as for the 8:2 i ve got nothing to say here really. we ve been shite the whole season since we were knocked out from the uefa cup last spring. The manager absolutely destroyed the team that played celtic last year. he got rid of all experienced players like Titov and Kalinichenko. Im wondering at how were still holding to league top 5 with absolutely crap performances. Thats what happens when you sign an unexperienced manager no matter if he is club's legend. He was sacked last week but it was too late he left ruins of a team.
However we have a new CEO now - Karpin, you should have heard of him and were close to signing Laudrup as our new manager. this season is lost, so our hopes are for the new manager and next season.

*looks at fee and wages Spurs are splashing out*
Proof if need be it's all about the money eh. A player would take £x K a week over garunteed european football and 60,000 fans? When the fuck are Spurs going to get into the CL? Maybe the UEFA cup but that's their lot.

We never agreed a fee with Spartak so he never had a choice to make.

Rebrov is Ukrainian mind you.
Pavlyuchenko is cup tied for the UEFA Cup apparently so that's a bit of a blow.
Lot of money so risky...hopefully he does well. Not sure what kind of songs we can fit around his name
