Stephen Appiah - free agent

Now a free agent after leaving Fenerbahce, the Ghanian midfielder is keen to re-join former club Juventus.

Representative Luca Pagani told Base Soccer: “We would like things to be sorted out as quickly as possible and a contract could be signed before next week.

“While I am saying that we are in no hurry, it is up to the club to make things happen.

“Yesterday I received a concrete offer from Racing Santander and Portsmouth are calling us practically every day. West Ham, Celtic and Everton have also expressed an interest.

“However, Juve are working on a solution and we will keep waiting because the lad hasn't hidden his desire to play for the Old Lady.”

Would be a good signing I believe but as GuitarBhoy said wages may be a stumbling block and think it's the fullback positions we need to strengthen more than anything.

if he refused to play then surely they would sell him and not let him go free?

he bought out the last year of his contract.

with Bobo, hopefully, eventually going we would have the wages to get him in. he would be class for us imo.

He told Fener (and pissed them off big time in the process) that he wanted to leave...while they wanted him to sign a new contract.

He has now (to the best of my knowledge) negotiated a termination of his contract...presumably paying to be freed and re-join Juve.

As for US ever getting him, he's meant to be on 70k a week so that was pretty unlikely!

Sad fact of the matter is there's every likely hood he'd rather play for Portsmouth than Celtic.

Says he would love to return to Juventus so I guess that's that.
Like the point Hammer made how players are so stupid to turn down the hoops and Champions League for an average premier league club with no real big ambitions

we can agree his transfer fee... but thats all. too many bigger clubs will offer him much higher wages now a transfer fee isn't there for us to even nearly afford him
