After the belter of a tackle on him by Hartley, i think it would be wiser for him that he joins the hoops!

If he cost under £3million then I think that he would be a good signing. Definitely strong enough for the SPL and could hold his own in Europe too.

I'm all for him joining the hoops. Can he play left-back though, or is he strictly CB?

ad take him, he's a strong tackling chap who as minty says is definitely strong enough for the SPL . 2.5 - 3m would be a good price too.

I'm not saying that money guarantees anything. What i am saying is that at the moment we have two established international defenders who have played together for two years, having won the league title and gotten to the last 16 of the CL both seasons. Do you honestly reckon WGS will drop either of them for a player who has never played in either an international, a European game or the top flight of a major league? I don't think so.
I think we now have a squad where i'd rather we brought in players who were definitely better than what we have already and would go straight in the team.

Chivu isn't the captain of Inter. i believe its Zanetti. Chivu played in midfield at the Euros as Romania had more defensive options than midfield.
your basing your opinion on Tamas' performances at the Euros and Basa's hefty price tag. i would imagin you're going on gut instinct to run the rule over Loovens. have you actually seen him, Basa or Tamas in their domestic campaigns?

Has anyone seen this guy other than when he played us? Have Celtic for that matter??
I saw Momo Sylla have a great game once. You would`ve thought he was a great player after that haha!
Anyway, hopefully if we sign him he`s good and it pisses off the huns like McDonald, and not flops terribly like Gordan Petric (remember they 'stole' him from under our noses?)

Sorry, he was captain of Ajax at 17 though i think, i'm sure i've seen him captain Inter but that might just have been temporary. The point i was making was that Roumania have a lot of good defensive players.
I'm basing my judgment on the two players on the fact that they have both played international and European football at a high level at Loovens has not. No i haven't seen either of them play domestically but i have seen Loovens about three times (barring the friendly as you can tell very little about a player from that).
But i think you are missing my point, i don't believe Loovens will come in and automatically displace either of the two current starting centrebacks. I don't want us to sign a player for that position with potential. If we were are to sign a player in that position i awnt him to have been about the block a bit and have a bit of experience at the top level which the other two have. We have two young centrebacks at the club who can act as back-up.

Why would Tamas have come in and done well when if Im not right domestically His team had the worst defensive record in his league last year. If not the worst it was bloody poor.
Loovens was seen as a big fact that cardiff got to the FA cup final

And our defence is terrible yet we had the best record in our league.
I'm not saying Tamas would of done well what i'm saying is that he would have been signed to go straight into the first team, which is what i was hoping for. The signing of Loovens would not, i think, change what WGS's first choice team would be.
We have to remember that WGS obviously rates Tamas higher than Loovens as he spent the best part of a month trying to sign him, then tried to sign Basa, and now maybe Loovens.
What i want to see this summer is at least one player signed who will automatically go into the first team. Therefore strengthening the team on the park, week in week out, not adding depth incase of injury.
Does anyone here think that Loovens will go straight into the team?
