I think he's worth a punt, the added factor of getting it up the huns makes it even more tempting!

You'd be getting him at a reduced price due to it being the last year of his contract as well coupled with the fact he's still young means resale value, which will have Lawell creaming his knickers.

looked good against us in Portugal, but untested. having not seen him play that often, the main reason why i think he'll be good is that Walter is after him and he usually has great judgment on centre backs.

i love pipping those over the Clyde to targets. they usually turn out grrrrreat a la Skippy.

Not excited about this at all. I wanted us to sign a centre half that would actually get in the first team, not act as back-up. Bassa and Tamas would have gotten in to the first team, i don't see Loovens doing that.

Hopefully just paper talk to wind up the Gers even more.

Same. I am annoyed that we seem to be trying to sing aquad players not first team player too. I but Joe Ledy of Cardiff I would sign him.

The fact it's in the Evening Times and the Daily Record as back page news suggests it's either been a leak by Cardiff to try and spur a bid from gers knowing they now have money or it is indeed factual.

If it is paper talk you can add that to the list of Keith Jacksons hun wind up articles coming straight after the 'How much will Kenny boost Celts coffers' article!

Variuos dutch media are reporting the same, they also ad that playing in the CL would be a big plus for celtic in the race to sign him.... loovens is a good adition 2 the celtic squad.. if we get him it will wind up the huns even more ..lmao

I heard from my source this morning that WGS has met with Thomas Brolin to thrash out a 1.6m deal for the next 3 years.

They are also looking at Gus Caesar who used to play for arsenal

As for him not getting the juices flowing. and Bassa and Tamas being world class is just nonsense.

Bassa turned us down and we pulled the plug on Tamas twice first over wages second over the fee.

WGS and Peter Lawell are not stupid. They are gonna do their upmost to get the best deals for Celtic and I for one back them in everything they do. If they sign this guy so be it I will back him. But I honestly dont think he is onn our radar as he would not walk straight into the team and that is what the manager wants to spend his money on.

From so of the things I am hearing We are in the market for another attack minded player.

I see the JVOH to hamburg thing is back in the paper. Personally I would keep him and I dont think we could replace him this season. But I have the feeling we are scouting potential replacements and he could well be away for 7mil.
Firstly I never said Tamas and Bassa are world class just stated an opinion that they are more exciting targets than Loovens.

Your point’s about us walking away from the Tamas deal and Bassa turning us down is at the moment purely paper and agent speculation. No direct statement from Celtic has been released, as to why these guys have not been signed.

I agree with you that Lawwell and WGS will do the best deal for the club, however that does not necessarily mean the best player will arrive. From a fans point of view I want us to get our priority targets in not take 4th or 5th choice. If that means spending your budget on one or two top targets instead of spreading it over 4 or 5 players then to me that’s the only way we will improve.

Your point about JVOH if we did sell him your right we must have a replacement identified, I like the big man but 7 million for someone pushing 30 may well be to good to refuse. If that materialises then I would like to see us go for Zigic or Kezman.

If you’re correct and we are in the market for another attack minded player, then I would hope this is secondary to any defensive targets that we are after. In an ideal world it would be good to strengthen in a number of positions however for me I would prefer to get one area of the team right this summer, then look to other areas at a later date.

I think your getting mixed up with Strachan and Smith on the old timer centre half rumours.

i think some of us are jumping to conclusions with Loovens. if he signs, i will judge him on his performances in the hoops. he may well walk into the team when settled. this could be the club he thrives at and takes his game to another level a la Boruc.

tbh i don't think many of us have seen enough of him to question his capabilities yet.

i can understand that some may have querries that he isn't our first choice target for centre back or he isn't the big name that we all desire. who is to say that he won't be? give the boy a chance.

however, this may just be all paper talk and nothing more and we may be just getting our knickers in a twist over nothing. time will tell.
