Theres only one player id bring back to celtic if the chance came along and that would be petrov. i dunno why so many want maloney back he would be deek riordan mk2 in a gordon strachan side. theres no way he'd drop mcgeady, naka, robson or even brown to let maloney in the team.

I really don't know what this Maloney fixation is all about. He was here did his bit & now he's gone. End of story. Why do we want him back? Why don't we think of getting in new faces, bringing with different aspects & newer ideas to the team?
He couldn't hack it with Villa & us lot seem to want him back !!??!!
What is it, are Villa bigger & better than CELTIC? or is it that we have suddenly adopted the principle ' Beggers are not choosers' !!??!!

I would like him back but he wouldn't be guaranteed a start. McGeady has become a better player than Shaun now. He would want a similar amount of cash too and i can't see Strachan paying that for a potential bench warmer to be honest. We have cover in the wide areas with Mizuno, McCourt, Caddis, Riordan(if needed), Robson(can play there too) so i'm not sure Shaun would be the right player to bring in!
As for Petrov, he can piss off! He was worse than Shaun. Petrov was demanding his move and sulking whereas Maloney was well within his rights even though he's a wee judas as well. Petrov has lost it as far as i'm concerned and Broonie will become a better player in a few years time. Also, the way Robson is playing, i'd pick him over Petrov anyday!

Personally, I'd have Caddis in the first team over Maloney, should he come back. I think he's been unbelievable in pre-season. He's a cut above all the other junior players coming through and I'd be hard pushed to name a first-team player who has played better. I'd even go so far as to say that his attacking play has been more positive than McGeady's this pre-season. He wins the ball brilliantly, chases the ones he loses, runs like a motherfucker and knows when to make the pass to release other players. I'd have him in the first team in a heartbeat.

Petrov has been one of the best central midfielders we have had at celtic park in the last 20 years mate....and he spent 6 or 7 seasons at parkhead mate he had every right to leave as well he left well within the laws of his contract. Stan was a great servant for celtic so its an insult that you treat him so harsh just think of his record against the huns and in europe mate the guy hardly missed a game in his 6 or 7 seasons at parkhead. He has a great level of fitness and strength as well as skill in abundance he scored countless important goals from midfield as well as spreading the play and having a go something that certain midfielders at parkhead now are incapable of doing.

Absolutely right - one of my favourite ever players for the Hoops - a great professional, and was the best midfielder in Scotland for many years. Made Barry look fucking ordinary in Old Firmers.

Agree- Petrov was a great player for us, I would carry him on my back from Birmingham to parkhead if he wanted back.

Petrov is at his peak and its being wasted. however, he forced his transfer through, there was nothing elegant of the matter. fair enough we got a good transfer fee, but we did not want to sell him at the period in time.
Maloney left well within his rights and i don't blame him as the club waited till the last minute to open contract talks and had the bright lights of the EPL in his eyes. it was youthful neivety and maybe felt unwanted. he still has potential and was, certainly during the season he left, a better player than McGeady.
tbh i would have both back. both are an improvement on the squad overall. if we unload Donati, Riordan, Sno and Gravesen, we would have a midfield of Brown, Robson, Hartley, McGeady, Nakamura, Petrov and Maloney. that, coupled with the untested in a competitive match of Caddis, McCourt, Mizuno and potentially Crosas, we would be laughing. that midfield is packed full of quality in depth.

i could of made it clearer, but that 'if' is there for 'if' we get rid of Donati, Riordan, Sno and Gravesen and had Maoleny and Petrov back or midfield would be 2 players shorter (maybe one if Crosas comes), yet is packed more with quality.

Rot like the bad apple he is! Millions would have given their limbs to be in the position he was in but no, wee shauny knew better! More money, more money and the small matter of MORE MONEY for someone at the age of 22/23 you would expect some form of ambition!
Petrov left to further himself.... that must be respected. I would take him back as he would boost the ability of the squad and almost certainly start.
Maloney on the other hand left to further his bank... this miust be observed. He has a long contract down there... let him make his money! Makes no sence to spend more on him than we recieved when he has done nothing since he left!!
