I don think that is the factor in this deal. I dont think we were unable to offer him the 20k he was looking, more like unwilling to treble his wages which is fair for me. If he wants to hold out for another club to come in for him to pay him his 20k then so be it.
Lawell is a smart guy and our finances are sitting at a very good position at the moment there is no point in ruining that.
We made the mistake with gravesen last time. I keep hearing his wages are different all the time. I initially thought he was on the 30k a week but from what I hear its actually 40k. If you combine that with bobo's thats almost 70k. If we can offload both players then I can see us bringing in 3 more players but if not. I think it will be loan signings for us.
Dont forget we have the players already to win the SPL but we all want to continue in the Champs League. Personally if we can continue to get to the last 16 every year then I will be delighted with that

In regards to the Tamas deal. I was reading an article with one of Tamas' agents on a websites a week or so back, and he was saying that Tamas was more than happy to accept the £16k a week wages Celtic were prepared to offer against his wishes for Tamas to hold out for £20k. He said the stumbling block was actually the fee between Celtic and Auxerre which is holding the transfer back.

Always had a soft spot for big Bobo. Good luck to him. That's the last of the Seville lot gone, eh? :(
And anyway..we need a new defender regardless if Balde leaves or not.

I agree to a large extent with that, Kev - but i never meant we were UNABLE to offer it, more that if Bobo goes, we will effectively be replacing a defender, and paying 8k a week less for the privelidge - over 4 years that work out as over 1.5 million, making Tamas look altogethr a far more attractive proposition..
I also agree that we "already have the players", but we do need strengthening with better additions (same as any team, in truth), and i would say 20k a week for Tamas is not ridiculous..
