hmm its seems bassa wants to come to play and tamas wants to come for money.... gets me thinking.

If we can get class mcmanus to play with class caldwell then we'd have a classy (and not just half-class) CB pairing already. But they seemed to trade good spells. Anyway, I'd prefer to have some real cover for Cb not just Bobo and Elvis who is good for teaching the young guys about how its done the gritty way but is past his best by far.

Elvis went at the start of the transfer season and Balde's on his way out, mate.

tbhh i seen this coming with tamas, you could tell from the start that he was just after the money with his representatives and agents, and the fact that he wanted to leave france because "they pay too much tax". basa is apparently one of the most promising defenders in europe? i thought he was our first choice but at first his club were after too much money so we switched targets? but he always wanted to be a bhoy :D

yeh here what it says

CELTIC'S move for Auxerre defender Gabriel Tamas has collapsed on the back of too much interference and wage demands that Parkhead chief executive Peter Lawwell found unacceptable.
The Romania stopper had been in talks over a move Parkhead, but now looks to have looks to have lost his chance to join Celtic
A variety of agents claiming to have a say in the player have complicated the deal to the extent Celtic are now following recommendations elsewhere.
Celtic will now pursue other targets while Tamas remains at Auxerre until he finds a club able to meet his demands.

he is rated highly in France and throughout central Europe. apparently, his price dropped from £7.5m, when Dortmund were interested, to £4.5m. i think when we heard his price dropped we dug our heels in on Tamas' demands.

I sincerely hope that Baša will sign for Celtic. Beside his good defending and playing football, it will be an honour for me to see a Serb in the Bhoys' shirt. :)

PSG to rival Celtic for Marko Basa
Friday 25 July 2008 - 15:08:27 - Click to post or view

Paris St German and Celtic are both looking for a left-back for next season, and they are both after the same player.

Marko Basa from Le Mans has been in talks with both PSG and Celtic, but now that Celtic's deal with Auxerre's Gabriel Tamas has fallen through because of the players wage demands, Basa has now become the Number One priority.

PSG had stated that they had given up on Basa beause they were following Nancy defender Sébastien Puygrenier, but negotiations have stalled on that one too, and it looks like he will be joining Zenit St. Petersburg.

With just over a week until he French Ligue 1 season begins Paris are becoming nervous and if Gordon Strachan is really keen to get his left back he had beter move fast.
