Le Mans chairman Henri Legarda has revealed the club are waiting to hear back from Celtic after proposing a fee for defender Marko Basa. The Serbian has been linked with a move to Parkhead, although Auxerre's Gabriel Tamas is also an option for Gordon Strachan.

Le Mans chairman Henri Legarda has revealed the club are waiting to hear back from Celtic after giving their valuation for defender Marko Basa.
Strachan: Must decide on Basa

The Serbian stopper, who signed from OFK Belgrade in 2005, is keen to depart Stade Leon-Bollee this summer.
Reports had suggested Le Mans' asking price for Basa, claimed to be in the region of £6.5million, was out of reach for Celtic.
However, the Ligue 1 club have opened talks with the SPL champions in a bid to strike a deal over Basa's transfer.
Legarda told L'Equipe: "Indeed, Basa wants to join a foreign club. He says we pay too many taxes in France.
"Celtic asked us to talk with the player. We made an offer to Celtic.
"We gave them a transfer fee on Friday. We are waiting for their answer. We are under no pressure."

" The Serbia international was due to join Paris Saint Germain after MUC 72 gave the defender permission to discuss personal terms with the capital club, but the move collapsed when Basa asked for a bonus "

it looks good that he rejected PSG.

1. we can use his availability to force Tamas wage demands down, as he should be aware we have other options.
2. if Tamas rejects us, we can go after Basa.

either way, it looks like we are going to bag a class defender who ever we get in the end.

Why do we need him really but lads ? The likely partnership next season wood be Mick and Tamas ? Plus PSG being after him means that Le Guen was after him and we are talking here about the guy who signed Sebo lol Not judging the lad on that but just saying why spend a load of money on a back-up player if Tamas signs ?

Is Tamas left sided??? I think he is but not sure. Got to be Caldwell and Tamas. Someone on another site claimed all the CBs we have been chasing are left sided, hinting that Mick will be warming the bench rather than Caldwell.

As much as some of you will like to see it we will never drop our captain unless for injuries, suspensions or their getting to be bout 34 (a.k.a Lambo)

Mick will be in Celtic years for years to come im afraid to tell you...

Least WGS is looking to strengthen in the places that the fans want to see strengthen ie. CB and LB hopefully Samaras isn't our Striker for the Summer.

simple answer is is that we would only sign one. Basa is the second choice imo if we miss out on Tamas. no way would we sign both.

Icon3 marko basa

Marko Basa started as attacker player, but his coach Dragoljub Beklavac (ofk Beograd) transformed him to defender. He dislike press, dislike media, and `cause of that we haven`t so much to read about him. Rarely talks with journalist about his plans or expectations. He is calm and intelligent. In spite of He is not french, he was captain of Le Man team. I n Europe it means a lot.
That is all that I know abot Basa. I hope this will help!
Magnificent site! I am having a good time here
