It seems his family doesn't want to live here no more, so they've already gone. I liked Naylor in his first season and by all means he was a bargain after that debut season. But you also need to remember that Rangers were in turmoil that season with manager changes and it made his first season alot easier. I'm not sure he can cope with the pressure week in week out. I thank him for what he's given to the club and if recieve £2m for him I'll be delighted.
You can't really slate a player when you buy him for £600,000, he plays 3 season getting into the last 16 of the Champions League in 2 of those 3 seasons and also wins the title 3 years on the trot. Above all that 3 years down the line we're looking to make a profit from him, excellent business and well done to the staff at Celtic for noticing it was time to leave and also that there was money to be made, not lost.
He simply isn't good enough though. If those comments at the end of last season about reaching the last 8 in Europe are going to be true, then Naylor isn't up to that standard and neither is Caldwell, or Sno. Donatti can handle himself in these games and although he's not a stand out player, it was his first season and I expect a much better midfield for Celtic next season.
Riordan, probably good enough to play for Celtic, never felt he had the confidence behind him and was never really shown any faith from the manager in terms of minutes on the pitch. Sno is slow, that's his main problem, but I think he can be a good player, he just needs to work on it, he's still young and could have a great future ahead of him. Porto are no mugs and they're looking at him for a reason.. plus the fact most of their players will leave since they seem to bribe everyone..
Donatti, needs a second season at least. Then we can judge him, so far not so good in my eyes. but I hope he proves me wrong. and you're right in saying I cheered when he scored that goal against Shakhtar, but who didn't? If one of the Shakhtar players had scored it, we still would have cheered.
Gravesen? Don't make me laugh. Thought he was coming to Glasgow to be some kind of attacking midfielder dynamo, he was far from it, often chasing balls like a headless chicken. Really liked him at Everton, didn't see much of him at Madrid, but hope to hell he gets off this wage budget before the season starts.

This could be a deal that will be ressurected now. Bouma's ankle dislocation leaves them very short now.

I think it is likely he will go now. But IMO this wil be WGS chance to get Maloney for no more than we received for him. I think WGS really likes Maloney and will use this Bouma injury as a way for us to finally hold an EPL club to ransom for a change

Sky Sports | Football | News | Bouma could make early return
Bouma's not out or that long anyway, seemingly... if Naylor was to go, it would be short-term cover as Bouma can actually play football to a decent standard...

Helluva lot better than first feared tho. Injury like that, you never know if someone will be the same again - Laursen said he was lucky he didn't break through the skin or he would have been completely f^cked. Playing again (probably) this calendar year is a big boost for all involved.

Exactly might not come back the same playert hense why they need a replacment hence why they are looking at Naylor hence why we should use this opportunity to get maloney back.

Villa are in Europe this year too. They'll want a player who has played at that level before, and you can't argue with £1M for a player under 30, who has achieved just that. I'm in the camp of people who don't want us to spend a penny on Maloney, but if it's a straight swap, then it wouldn't be a bad bit of business.

Good usage of "hence" - shame it was utilised too many times, (and spelled incorrectly once....)
More importantly though, you seem to be saying that as a result of the Bouma incident they have some requirement for Naylor - meaning that when Bouma and O'Halloran are back (brilliant prospect out at present with Cruciate for a little while) they will have three folk for one position..Id rather play Davies, Zat Knight and Laursen with a bit of protection (Barry probably staying as well?) and wait until one of those 2, if not both, are back...
Also, Maloney is worth a lot more than Naylor, and if Naylor goes, we are even more f^cked up in that position.
Not looking for an argument at all dude - just would be very surprised if this one went through...

Making do is quite often the downfall of many teams in Europe. If you don't have the right player for the position, the opposition will target said player and rip them a new arsehole. For a club with the money that Villa now have, a straight swap between a player who would do the job for them and a player they got for a million and seldom use would make great business sense. They wouldn't miss Maloney, but they'd certainly miss an assured LB in Europe.
