Naylor had a great first season. Poor second season but he knows no matter how bad he played at times last season that he would start the next game as there is no competition for left back. I think a little competition might bring out the best in him

I can't believe some of the stupid comments on here. Naylor is our only left back and people are rejoicing that he might be going. Wait til we get a replacement before you start jumping up and down like wee kids at a party.

they're hardly stupid comments. he was a real dissapointment last season and the fact that the club are apparently prepared to sell him shows that we're obviously gonna sign a replacement. maybe selling naylor will speed things up a bit

Maloney

I just heard on the radio that Maloney could be on the way to celtic with Naylor going to Villa!

I hope so, but where will Maloney play?

This has been banded around the net as a rumour; maybe the radio station has picked that up.

I would seriously doubt that MON would be interested in Nails.

If true though it sounds like a great deal for Celtic.

Regards to were he will play, Left, right, up front or behind the strikers. So many options for the wee man he will gat a game.

I don't think Naylor is all that bad a player, but I agree with Henke67, we should line up a quality replacement before selling him!

surley if people dont want naylor out for this reason then it is hypocritical of them to want donati out???

i am no fan of donati, just think naylor should fuck off, sometimes last season i felt he just didnt look intrested.

Because he's not good enough to cut at the highest level. Celtic clearly made a statement at the end of the season suggesting that the last 8 in Europe is their target. If that's the case then we need to let the likes of Naylor go and bring in someone better. Atouba for example. Naylor had one good season, he's been pish since.

Riordan has had a chance?

Quote:
Riordan has had difficulty obtaining a place in the Celtic side. As of October 4, 2006, he had only played three minutes in league matches for Celtic out of a possible 810. He has sometimes even not been selected as a substitute. He finally made his full debut for Celtic against St. Mirren in the CIS Cup, as Gordon Strachan fielded a side containing many players who are not first team regulars.
He's had 25 games in the whole time he's been at Celtic. How is that being given a chance? Cameo roles in the last 10 minutes is no use to nobody, especially when they cannot get fully fit, due to lack of playing.

Strachan doesn't like him because he doesn't try hard enough. He's not willing to run the flanks upfront. That means he's got to be played as a winger and he's not moving any of the players we have in those positions.

It's obvious something isn't right and I've heard that it's down to lack of effort on Riordans part, he's very huffy and doesn't do what he's told to. It's what I've heard, who knows if it's true.

Quote:
Despite further interest from clubs including PSV Eindhoven, Anderlecht, Kaiserslautern, Crystal Palace, Burnley, Leeds United and Charlton Athletic, Riordan signed for Celtic in a £200,000 deal in June 2006.
The guy had the chance to move to Anderlecht and PSV two years ago. People seem to forget just how good he was for Hibs. Now he's looking at the prospect of moving to Burnley just to get a game? No wonder he's pissed off. The likes of Anderlecht wont look at a player who has festered in the reserves for the last 2 years.

He's never been given a chance to prove himself and I hope he moves for the sake of his career and wish him all the best.

If you seriously want to progress to last 8 of CL, then Atouba is no more the answer than Naylor is.

I'm pretty happy to swap Atouba for Naylor (in terms of fees), but I still want another quality LB.

The young portugese boy on loan is not the answer either.

Sign Rat, he's within our budget, he'd come to Celtic & he's better than all other LB's we've been linked with.

If we get Rat, I'll be really, really happy.
