The attendance isn't actually as bad as people think. It's just because they play in gigantic NFL stadiums which regularly seat 70-90k, and when you just have 20k it looks like a cavern. And yes, Adidas sponsors the league, but Nike is an American company and is heavily involved with football in other areas (they sponsor the national team set-up). Herbalife is a second rate company which tries to make herbal supplements and energy drinks, but still hasn't become very big. They sponsor the game because they see it as an investment. College-aged people like myself (and I assume Iontach) have grown up watching the game on TV and playing the game, so when we are all adults with purcahsing power, it should be one of the major sports in the country. These companies want to capitalize on that.

cmilkbhoy- MLS averages higher attendance than the SPL, on average, even including the OF and they would have a higher revenue on average if you take out the OF. Also, the Italians call football Calcio.

Anyways, sorry for getting off topic, but back to the original post, Jozy won't sign for anybody anytime soon. I wish he would though, I hate RBNY.

I don't think there's any need for anti-American sentiment on this 'site. I've found that most of the guys who post on here that are American are pretty knowledgable about the game. The MLS is getting better by the year and it would seem the infrastructure of the league is solid at last. Don't forget the pastings we took in the pre-season too. I know it was yet another team trying to gel, but we wouldn't be getting hammered that badly if the opposition was pub league quality. The videos of this fella make him look pretty good. He'll never end up at Paradise though.

you do know that the word soccer is actually a british originated word??

anyway its amazing what you can get out of a drunk MLS insider. Jozy wouldn't mind a move to Celtic or other clubs interested in him, Newcastse and Atletico Madrid mianl, but he prefers Real Madrid. But he won't be going anywhere before the end of New York's upcoming season. He isn't moving to Europe until next January at the earliest unless a ridiculous bid comes in and he makes a fuss. From what I learned he has no problem staying in MLS for another season but he wants out after this season.
