Don't know, the way the Scottish league has been over the last 7 or so years, the new Old Firm manager is normally successful in their first season, Advocatt, O'Neill, and McLeish did well, and Strachan has turned things around well, despite Rangers and Hearts slump in form.
Le Guen could be a good short term fix, but I hope he doesn't go down the route of Advocatt and bring in loads of foreigners, as it could cost Rangers in the long run, then again, spend away Monsieur Le Guen, maybe buy back Boumsong for £12 million?

It looks to be a great manager you's have. I think he will sign some good players, but we'll just have to wait and see how much money he's actually given. Could be a repeat of the Advocaat years. I'm a little bit worried about our signin of caldwell. If thats the calabre of player we're signin and le guen brings in some quality frenchman then we wont stand a chance. (found that guy on real radio funny tonight when he said yous are getting zidane and beckham lol)

young scottish 'talent' seems to be what Strachan is after. I know Scott Brown just signed a new contract but I'd love to see him in the hoops.

For Rangers sake they'd better hope he signs young french players like Wenger did at Arsenal and not what Houllier did at Liverpool.
He will be a good manager, and he has plenty of CL experience, which could be Strachan's downfall again next season.
Can't blame Strachan for Caldwell and Miller, whilst not the most exciting players, good squad additions, especially if a cap of the number of foreign players goes through.

Next few seasons will be dead exciting. Celtic have a huge headstart just now. But Rangers have Le Guen. I don't mean headstart in the league. But Celtic have a superior team just now. Should be interesting.

Le Guen has been a very good manager in his country. Won many trophies. I think he's gonna be a good manager for the rangers. but we have to keep in mind, it doesn't always work out, especially the french mentality is a bit sensitive. In switzerland there are 3 huge parts (italian/french and german part) and there were very good swiss managers from the french side who had much success with french-swiss-teams. but as soon as they came to a german-part-team, they got sacked after a half season. It just didn't work out.
However, it doesn't always work out with foreign managers, but in this case I assume he will do a good job (unfortunately ).

Le Guen is a top manager, didn't have loads of money at Rennes prior to Lyon but did an excellent job there too. He will be a serious threat but I get the impression he's not in for the long haul, if that's true it may make some players wary of signing for him. It seems clear a number of seriously top European clubs were interested in him, how did Murray convince him to come to Scotland - must have had something to do with substantial cash being available for a much needed overhaul of the playing staff. He won't have come to do it on Bosmans. Time will tell if it's a masterstroke or a desperate act from a desperate man.

I suppose if Rangers have a great season next year and become dominant in the spl over the next few seasons (lets hope they dont but they might), then I'd hope the Celtic board would go all out to compete with them. Maybe strike a few deals themselves.

We shouldn't underestimate Wee Gordon, I think that appointment may have been the ultimate masterstroke. He's made mistakes but he's learned from them, I am confident he will give M. Le Guen a run for his money, the challenge and competition will do us good
