Away Goals Rule - Good or Bad?

Hey guys, been talking about this with a few others. Do you think its a good or bad idea? Whats your views?

Personally I think its a bad idea that a team can win whilst drawing with their opponent.

I love away goals.

They add to the tension on a European night.

There's little better than scoring an away goal, yet there's little worse than conceeding one!

Personally I hate them. I hate seeing a team draw 0-0 away then 1-1 at home and then go out of a cup competition because they lost by the away goals rule. In my opinion its just silly. It doesn't ensure the better team goes through to the next stage.

How can one team win after drawing with their opposition. In my opinion, teams should just battle it out for real - none of this FIFA / UEFA away goal nonsense.

lol, yeah I understand ya but I'd love to see it just go to extra time then penalties. I think that is a fairer way of settling it.

Seems too many people dislike and are afraid of the excitement of penalties these days.

But if they weren't in place do you think the Bhoys who made it through to the Final off the UEFA-Cup in Sevillie would have got there if they weren't away goals rule coz we needed a few off them to get through did we not,Celt-Vigo,Stuggard I think not sure but the goals we got away from home that year helped us did they not??- So I say keep the Rule

Yeah you are saying keep it because it worked in our favour in those occassions but what if we drew 0-0 away to Barca then 1-1 at home - it would be very disappointing to be out just because we drew 1-1 at home. Makes no sense in my opinion.

And what about Celtic-Liverpool 1997?2:2 in Glasgow and 0:0 at Anfield Road and we were kicked out because of that stupid rule.

I would prefer an unsure option. I love it when they win us ties, hate it when they lose us them

Not a brilliant idea, yet there has been worse.

It's like winning a league by goal difference, sure we are talking about points on a league, who fucking cares about goals, in the event of there being a draw of points at the end of a league, both teams should play for an extra point.

Dont mind really about away goals. Brings a bit of excitement to a game, makes for an amazing atmosphere. I udnerstand what you're saying about penalties + extra time though liamsquire, that can't be beaten.
